Ive always purchased Antec Enermax or Tagan, without issues. I know Corsair are NEWish to making psus, but heard they are ok. For a reliable psu, you need buy from a company that has been making them long enough to test for reliability. No point buying a psu from company that only been building for a year or so, as how can you say they are reliable? But i feel its part of a pc that gets overlooked and money spent on a good psu, is worth it IMO.
1KW is kind of excessive, if you went that route you'd want to make sure it's got a very high efficiency rating (Like 90%). Anything over 700W should be sufficient; make sure to buy from a decent brand.
Actually, Corsair doesn't make PSU's. Corsair PSU's are mostly built from Channel Well Technologies (CWT). They are TOP PSU's, and the reviews show that they are cream of the crop. Every corsair model has excellent regulation and ripple/noise suppression. And truth to be told, Antec, Enermax, and Tagan don't make PSU's either. http://www.jonnyguru.com TX line are non modular. HX line are their modular "premium" line. I'd keep with a minimum of 750w. Corsair TX750W would do nicely and are priced very well. If you want modular, go with the HX line. It cost more, but comes with a 7-year warranty, and even better ripple/noise suppression.
+1 I would have got the Corsair HX850, but it was out too late. I am very happy with my Enermax Revolution.
