    And 32 bits?

    Thank you so much again.

Do you know the patch for 32-bit version?

I don't work with SW. All I can ask if there is a difference and if so how much difference with the same system before and after modding in regards to viewport speed and stability/bugs. Try to bench your viewport before and after modding. It's your experience with SW after modding that everyone using SW is interested in.

Check the animated assembly explode/collapse with wireframe or (the most expensive) hidden lines removed view. With a 600-1000 parts' assembly you should have no "bricks" during rotation and animation. Also you may check opening lots of files in separate windows (i.e 30-40 parts should give us no screen corrupt). Try to rotate and pan views and you will see the difference on Pro and Radeon.

P.S.: I have bricks on my assemblies, but I assume it is a problem of my CPU and memory... but who knows - maybe it is a wrong mod?

Uf, could anybody point me to how to mod HD3200 to firegl on xp X64. It's an integrated card (Device ID: 1002 - 9610). Or a step by step tutorial for HD3xxx series. There is just to much to read, and i'm lost.

Onboard HD3200 did not work for me.

I had patched one onboard HD3200 and it did not work for me.

I had used the same script I used for successfully on HD3450, HD3650, HD3850 and HD2870.

But it did not work on HD3200.

Probably it will not work for you too.

Thank you. Let's go shopping. Hmm, boss says Ati is not as good as Nvidia in Solidworks. I guess i'll get Ati then ;).

Radeon HD 2900 XT, Radeon HD 2900 GT, Radeon HD 2600 XT (512 MB GDDR4 version),
Radeon HD 2600 Pro, Radeon HD 3850/3870, Radeon HD 4870 are moddable

Can anyone tell me which of the ATI HD 3450, 4350, 4550, 4670, 4730, 4850, 4870 or 4890 series are moddable and which others are not

    I currently have a 3870
SAPPHIRE HD4550 HDMI and SAPPHIRE HD4670 are cheap
4870 and 4890 are too pricy, 4870 is around %20 and 4890 is around %50 more than 4850, will I have any gain in 3ds max or Rhino with those
I consider buying Sapphire, SAPPHIRE has VAPOR-X series, what is the difference

I don't think you will see a difference in 3ds max or rhino if you switch from a 3870 to a 4870 (well not a big difference anyway).
I think your main problem would be the CPU. Your q6600 is probably not clocked too high.
You would probably gain more if you overclocked your CPU than switching your GPU for a faster (gameing) card.

If you are realy desperate about your 3ds max performance then visit the nvsoftquadro thread. If you are only a hobbist then save your money.

heh, guys, i think it was mentioned before, but i tested myself hd3870 and (hd2600 on notebook) modded as firegl and radeon on max9 and 2009 32 and 64bit in D3D, as it recomends autodesk for using with 3ds max, and results were the same exept wireframe is ~2times faster with firegl maximum open gl drivers for max9 (i tested complex geometry, texture and wireframe scenes and i have a maxscript that counts fps)

so it seems for me ridiculous specview tests as it seems was written to justify pro cards against radeon.

abandonning the softfiregl path for there is no special drivers, as i am moving to max2009. and what about maya? is it useful modding only for maya?

and one more question: is it possible to test performance in autocad2010 or earlier? like some script or benchmark, but not by measuring it with subjective naked eye :)

the mod doesn't seem to affect maya at all, outside specviewperf

my results on maya bike bench, on an HD4670:
    catalyst 9.10 (driver 8.661) unmodded -- 23.3 fps
    catalyst 9.05 (driver 8.612) unmodded -- 17.1 fps
    Firepro v5700 (driver 8.603) modded ---- 17.7 fps

and on MayaCarBench the number doesn't even change: when you're suffering really low fps, the CPU can be the bottleneck, so much so that slowing the GPU/GPURAM by 50% can make no difference at all

a lot more results, like "nvidia beats amd" and "avoid vista and w7", here:

One problem, why don't I sign the driver by wesley8's method?
    [IMG][/QUOTE]

Hallo boys.. I have the same problem of ignis (with hd3870 and 8.633 drivers).. It seems that Atimod.cer run only with Hd4xxx..
Someone, like wesley8, have solutions? Thanks:)

A temporary solution for not signed driver (to avoid press each time F8..). Ready driver plus. but the little program isn't compatible with win7. Here the way to install it in w7..
