At least all this waiting showed me that nTune (v6.05) isn't as buggy as before, and does a pretty good job, but it doesn't have RT's hotkey support that I need.

Franpa, if you want to specifically change Direct3D settings, use nHancer.

ntune used to lock my system up in the old days. Not too keen on trying it again

It locked up mine when I tried to "automatically" find maximum overclocks with it.
Just don't do that sort of thing.

Profiles were broken in the old days, now they work fine.
It allows you to set your clock speeds too low though, so pay attention with any power-saving profiles or you can crash your computer.

I too have this problem but its a 50-50 load or crash when RT starts up... are there any other tools that i can temporarily use to apply overclocking settings?

For me on Windows 7 x64 Pro, RT does not crash with the 195.39 driver, but it happens that it doesn't load at startup.
Here is what I've found in the event log:

    Code:
Faulting application name: RivaTuner.exe, version: 2.24.1.0, time stamp: 0x4a9035c7
Faulting module name: nvapi.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ae7fb8b
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x05c82dec
    Faulting process id: 0x348
    Faulting application start time: 0x01ca6328fa9faa90
    Faulting application path: D:\RivaTuner\RivaTuner.exe
    Faulting module path: nvapi.dll
    Report Id: 445468b0-cf1c-11de-81d1-00235473d0a1
nvapi.dll does exist in both System32 and SysWOW64, I think that's the same location as with previous drivers.

    PS.
Path for nvdisps.dll changed to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Display, copying it to either RT's folder or C:\Windows\System32 fixes the issue that it isn't displayed in RT.

EDIT: didn't see Unwinders post and tells he already knows where the issues are, before posting this.

Haha...glad I found this thread as I've just spent an hour trying to figure out why mine was crashing.

195.55 is fine with Riva here. 2D/3D, custom fan profile, Hardware monitoring and first of all no Riva crash at startup or whatever. At least yesterday when I've installed 195.55 it was a perfect day. :D

any feedback on the latest stable release (195.62)?

I'm still using the old 190.38, I want to upgrade but rivatuner is preventing me since I would like to keep everything working like it is now..

The latest supported drivers (190.62) were added in Rivatuner release 224c.

Force driver version when not supported by Rivatuner.

im using the latest drivers (195.62) without the ForceDriverVersion workaround, and they are working fine. they may not be officially supported, but they do work

You're talking about the wrong version.

And you're misunderstanding my post. I know what he's talking about. If Warl0rd follows the link, he'll know what to do.
