Got mine a few days ago, but I'm most likely gonna wait until Win7 comes to my door next week, then I'll do all the upgrades then, and see what happens. I'm gonna be gutting out my rig, and building to the specs as you see under my avatar.
300MHz in 2D mode for the memory clock? Mine stays at 1000. The only one that drops is the GPU clock. It drops to 400MHz. Once in a while I see that peaking to 550MHz (with no visual side effects).
All I see here are the higher clocks in the 2nd screen compared to the first one, hence the boost in score
Right but you need to be able to unlock the card to get to those clocks. That's the beauty. Now I have 5870 speeds.

You can make CCC profile and edit the .xml file to specify your idle clocks. I think you can also set 2D and 3D profiles in MSI Afterburner.
Yes, it's kind of weird, actually. Initially, my card would idle at 400/1000, but after a few days of playing with overclocks and drivers, after recovering from crashes I saw the card "reset" itself to idling at 157 core and 300 memory (or somewhere around there). I have no idea why. It's pretty annoying having to use the AMD GPU Clock Tool to overclock manually...I'm thinking about doing the BIOS flash.

I uninstalled the first driver, rebooted in safe mode, ran driver sweeper, registry clean, I then installed the developer driver (later link) and the multi monitor flicker went away and I can run OpFlashpt 2 at like 80FPS on max with max AA.
My second 5850 arrived today. Sometimes I look no further than the length of my nose. Hehe. I used the Crossfire bridges supplied with the graphics cards and wasn't happy that I needed to use PCI-E slots 1 and 2, because the bridges were too short. Of course that didn't work at all. I got some weird lane values in GPU-Z. Annoyed I decided to read the manual of my motherboard. In its box I found 2 longer bridges. And of course the manual said that I needed to use slot 1 and 3. Hehe. After that no problems at all. There is enough room between the cards to cool them by the fans in the case door. I'll monitor the temps for a while. If they stay low enough I'll try some moderate overclocking. So far it looks like the cards outperform my 4870X2. Nice.
Which drivers are you using specifically? Are they these ones: http://downloads.guru3d.com/Catalyst-8.66.6-091006a-for-5800-and-HD5700-download-2405.html ? Also, what are your 2D/idle clocks at?
