With 190.62 when you enter WoW is your card in 3D clock speeds? Looks like it's at the 2D clock speeds with that FPS.

Anyone else having video playback issues with these drivers?

My .avi files seem to take forever to buffer when seeking....

clocks are allright...as soon as any 3d/directx app is started it clocks up to full speed.

Yeah.. strange why newer drivers would drop your FPS by so much.. What make is your card,,, which manufacturer?

There is ONE theory, but i am tired of switchign drivers now and will stay on 186:

Since i have "ambient occlusion" on...maybe in 186.18 ambient occlusion does not work, therefore its way faster. In 190 maybe it works, and that's the reason it bogs down FPS. <--- but that's just a theory.

Disable Windows Hardware installation (hardware tab, device installation settings)

Delete the all driver from control panel (press no on reboot)

Download a drivercleaner tool, check all nvidia **** exept mobo drivers (if u have)

Clean all files and press oke on reboot.

Install drivers again (you could use F8 for save mode to .. i always do that donno why)

    TAoM,

used preoper de-install in Control Panel - then SAFE MODE and running Driver Sweeper.

It is NOT a problem on "my side", i am 100% positive since the slow FPS can be reproduced and i dont have any "exotic" hardware - its a problem with Nvidias 190.62 drivers.

You can easily test for yourself if you're playing WoW.

My testing spot is when i fly down from dalaran towards that white tree in crystal forest. I fly down from dalaran, there is a rock where i land. It can be anywhere else, but some spots in WoW have normal FPS...and some are bad for testing....so it must be the same spot and it must show the FPS problem. I found this one good for testing.

my driver settings in NV Control panel:

In WoW: 1680x1050 4xAA, Vsync, All Effects HIGH and active except "Shadow Quality" is one notch down.

He has a GTX275. And if you guys are spending loads of money on all these new cards and you have to turn off shadows to increase performance, on a old game like WOW, something is wrong here lol. With a GTX275 you guys should be able to play any game on the market with ease, let alone WOW. I guess all these pcie new cards aren't so good or something , like everyone says they are.

I need to play WOW on my 8400gs and see how it runs haha.

it runs fine...and maxing out effects and especially transparency AA/supersampling is the main reason i got me a 275. Its the fricking drivers, 186.18 is fine.

Try using the 185.85 drivers. They seem to fix a major problem and problems with some games i am having and everything is working fine. But i am using a 8400gs lol, but hey nothing wrong with trying them out.

Yes, you are RIGHT! It is AO <--

But this mean that in 186.18 AO doesn't work since i always had AO on.
Now it seems to work and causes the massive drop in 190.xx

Great, while reading the thread I went to that place and made a screenshot with your settings, and then you find the problem already.

    Ah well, here it is:

This is with 190.62, Win7 x64 RC and all the settings you mentioned...except AO. With AO I get 17fps...20, if I turn transparency-AA off.

Do you have V-Sync enabled? Otherwise 57fps seems a bit low for your system, seeing that it should be 10-20% faster than mine...
