Demo should be out later today - http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewstory&threadid=100912 and though there are a few links like Fileplanet - http://www.fileplanet.com/203460/200000/fileinfo/Darkest-of-Days-Demo it's still encrypted (_encr.zip) so it's not really available yet. (The above fileplanet link is actually what subscribers would download and then unencrypt when available.)
http://downloads.gamezone.com/demos/d28193.htm Bit of a double post but this link is for the actual setup file and not the password protected zip archive, should work fine.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/hrjazc Installer file for the download of the demo, bit of a workaround but seems to still work based on other comments, of course the actual demo should be up within a few hours anyway.
It's like a game from a cereal box. Ai doesn't know what it is doing, I never got hit once in the demo and I was literally standing on one place shooting the running people. Music is horrendous and loops all the time, I'll hear those drums in my nightmares for rest of my life. Mouse lag was quite horrible too. Yuck... not so great.
runs smooth at 1920x1080 for me,i like it,takes some getting used to,graphics look real good, definatly worth a playthrough when its released imo
so its just your average generic FPS with 5 time periods as their main marketing gimmick? i didnt think much of it, nor would i buy it.
the previews even sounded very meh about this game, and when ign can't stir up some hype with it's previews of a game then you know it is in trouble.
Felt ok to me, nothing spectacular, might try it again in a bit as i spent more time on the PhysX benchmark than the actual game. PhysX on low is CPU, and medium and high are GPU Can't see much difference between medium and high, and between low and medium seems to be better smoke and explosions, but mostly alot of leaves flying around, and average FPS goes from 69 to 21 between low to high physx, so you will need a dual GPU setup to play this fully maxed, also 4xAA still looks very aliased, as you may see from below, so don't know if there is no, or bad implementation. Game looks interesting from the preview video with the demo, but playing it, didn't feel as much fun.
This game is just awful. The graphics aren't that great except for the nice looking smoke and some of the weaponry models. Other than that, ewww. Just look at the terrain. I'm glad they release demos for these kind of games. You can really test the sht before retail.
