My drivers (no matter which ones) will only work for 2D games, or 2D anything for that matter. Anything that requires 3D anything will fail, for any kind of card. Even happened with a known working card.

You're using the GTX280 which you have in your profile?

Which driver are you using and did it install correctly?

maybe your card is damaged...you should do some test with many driver, and see...if still not work, u should sent it back on warranty (i hope)

Basic questions here, you do have the chipset drivers installed for your Mother Board, and do you have the latest DirectX installed. I see this a lot of this with ether the MB or DirectX not installed properly or damaged installs of ether etc.

What I mean to say is I usually install the Operating system, then the Mother Board drivers and then directX, only then installing the Video/sound drivers. I have found deviating from this process causes some problems with driver installs " at least for me".

I would generally advise installing OS, Mobo drivers, Graphics drivers, then DX updates. I have found installing DX updates prior to the graphics driver can cause issues from time to time.

I have done this both ways, but I saw an article at microsoft advising installing DX first due to some files required for proper driver installation and have had no problems ether way. whichever way is fine I'm guessing.

I install drivers any way I feel like at the time and never had problems. If you only have 2D then you need a new card.

What exactly happens, aside from "fail" when you run a 3D app?

Card can't be damaged, have used more than one. EVEN A KNOWN WORKING ONE (which had been used with the same CPU and same card manuf. but it was a GTX 9800, which I also have) . It is definitly the drivers. I have also used an intel cpu plus multiple motherboards. Oh and multiple drivers both old and new.

Well, some games just freeze, others, like Fallout 3, tend to load the game and then the graphics start getting crazy. THe drivers fail whenever any 3D object needs to be rendered, such as the screen saver.

Wouldn't there be other problems if it was the psu? I do have more than one of those too, thinking that was the problem.

What is your PSU? Did you try other PSU's?

I have not tried installing software in that order, that is my next tactic.

More than one faulty motherboard ( I've used more than one)? And the card still works, it just doesn't produce 3D graphics.
