So you're using the latest 64bit build?

+1 on x64 Windows and not going back.
COD4 works fine with RTM Win 7 and PunkBuster. Looks like Even Balance delivered on their update with the release candidate.

Also just upgraded my system from the 7232 release of the beta. Had to alter 1 line in the upgrade text file but it has worked flawlessly on 2 systems I upgraded it on.
MS allows for the last of the betas to be upgraded and for Vista.

A solid OS which is nice and it does what I want to use my computer for - Work - Entertainment - Creativity - and Play. No other OS gives me that and worth the upgrade $ that MS is asking for it. Sure not as cheap as Linux or a OS-X upgrade but given how MS supports their OS's with service packs which are like yearly releases with OS-X or point releases in Linux - hey I'll cough up. :)

I only tried the one server but there still hasn't been an update so I'm not going to bother with it until then.

Did try COD4 last night, no kicks yet. Seems as if COD4/5 have been updated for me but nothing else.

    I beg to differ,
upon upgrading to the rtm build and because of catalyst 9.7,
my wei gaming graphics went from 5.5 to 6.4.
    :)

    P.S. First Post! :)

so far i've not really seen any advatages of 64 bit, as far as I see it's just the ability to have more than 4gb, which i'm a bit too poor to buy atm

of course 64bit is better , i too wouldnt dream of going back because as soon as i can afford it im getting 3 2gb sticks of ram so that eventually i can have 12gb. cant do that with 32bit. 64bit and windows7 is the way of the future.

the only 64bit related problem is driver signing but that too can be disabled.

If you're going to go to the latest version, why not use the OEM? I've been told thats the way to go by other sources, might save you a headache down the line if you chose to go that way.

I backed up, external usb's are great.
Then a clean install. Its so fast at installing. 10-15 mins.

Went 64bit on my laptop too, it runs great. And only used 10gb.

Is there some super secret to getting virtual xp to work?? I never got past the initial screens since it keeps giving me a "gardware-assisted virtualization is disabled" error. I already tried everything, from disabling and reenabling vt, restarts, cold boots, saving bios without any changes, etc. I'm sure enabling VT makes a difference because when I tried disabling it and running virtual xp again, it immediately threw an error at me (a different one, but also warning that VT was disabled). The admin setup screen didn't even show up

Extract whole .iso file with winrar or 7zip. Open cversion.ini file, found in sources folder and edit MinClient=7233.0 line to whatever your Win7 version is now. Save and burn it all on disk.
