    hi all

I've been running my q6600 kentsfield at stock speeds for almost a year now, but I think it's time to push it to the limit. As the thread title states, I have an asus striker II formula mobo, which makes overclocking pretty simple. I also have a zalman 9700 cpu fan running in an antec 900 case, so my cpu runs pretty frosty.

I can boot and pass intelburn test at with a FSB of 333mhz, with my vcore set to auto. What's a good vcore to start at to try and minimize my voltages?

also, how easily will I be able to get this thing running at least 3.6ghz?

what is the vcore at stock speed? I know you will be able to get it to 3.0 safely but not sure how much after that..depends on how good your cooling is. Move up in increments of .02 volts. (example: if stock voltage is 1.20 vcore, then bump it to 1.22 or 1.23 and up your fsb) Before you up the voltage, find the voltage ceiling for that chip so that you dont go over...and most of all...watch the temps of your northbridge and cpu.

right now i'm trying to get it running stable at FSB=333

    here are my voltages:

    cpu v: 1.2875
    VTT: 1.20
    Mem: 1.80
    NB Core: auto
    SB Core: auto

I can pass IntelBurn Test standard with these settings, with my average core temperature hovering between 55-60C on full load

should i bother tweaking the last voltages?

    memory is running at 5-5-5-18-2t

my FSB : DRAM ratio is 1333:833.... would it be worth trying to get my memory running at 1066? what voltages would i have to play with to do this?

also, what is CPU PLL voltage? should I be touching this?

    drop multi to 8

    then bump fsb to 400

and that should get you have @ 1:1

    cpu v: 1.35v
    VTT: 1.20
    Mem: 2.1
    NB Core: 1.3
    SB Core: auto

you sure about the 1:1 ratio? wouldnt 3:2 get my ram running at 1066? (1600:1066)

also, i can't get past my mobo screen (can't POST) at those specified voltages

    why isnt it? lol

should i increase voltages or what?>

well 1.35v should at least boot with 3.2ghz.

    did u drop multi?

yeah multiplier is set at 8x... BUT bios was showing 3.60ghz not 3.20ghz

Ok try 2.15 or 2.2v on the ram.

but the max voltage specified by ocz for my ram is 2.1 (2.15).... or does that value pertain to something else?

Yeah some ram needs a bit more juice though do you have an option for FSB voltage ? i would suggest 1.3v if that dont work im out of ideas for now....

it didnt work at 2.2v either

the other voltage options i have are PLL, SB core, 1.2v HT, and bridge core (all set at auto)

    there are also items called:

    CPU GTL_REF Ratio
    NB GTL_REF Ratio
    DDR2 Controller ref voltage
    DDR2 channel A ref voltage
    DDR2 channel B ref voltage

is it even possible for a q6600 to change multiplier vlaues? i though that was the main difference between the Q series quads, and the Qx series quads

Yes your Q6600 can go from 6-9

    maybe try stock 9 multi.

got it to post and pass intel burn test standard at these settings

    333x9 multiplier
    FSB : DRAM = 1333:1066
    cpuv: 1.2875
    vtt: 1.20
    memory voltage: 2.20
    NB core: 1.30

i'm gona try to lower my memory voltage as much as possible.

is there a way to be certain my memory is running @ 1066?

BSOD when i tried to lower my memory voltage, i guess it stays at 2.2

everything seems to be in order, thanks for the assistance!

how can I run a more intesive test with IntelBurn? or should I look to p95 for that
