Regarding shadow quality, Ive noticed this also with my xfx 4870, ur not alone :D

I have no idea why they happen either, clean install with safe mode sweeper etc etc as usual and 9.7's

It would be nice to see a definitive game from someone on a 4870 with 9.7's, so we can then all run said game and test this way, instead of the "No i dont have this" remarks.. Not about saying its not true, but visual is much better really.

I get pixalated shadows mainly on just character shadow representations, objects etc seem fine its always just the character shadows for me. Odd indeed. But then again alot of games use that awful dithering shadow which is cheap and crap.

    Thoughts?

Simple, I think ATI is having serious problems with dinamic shadows. However we need check what this not happening on some case with NVIDIA Card example COD4. I said this because a friend mine can see Pixelated Shadows on COD4 and Dead Space with his GTX 260.

    Note: My english sucks sorry...

Uh... there's nothing wrong with the shadows in that Dead Space video. They looked the same back on my old 8800GTX from Nvidia, and they look like that on my 4870 X2. That's just what unfiltered shadow maps look like... get used to it, a lot of games are using them nowadays because they're cheap. Some games, like HL2 Ep2, the Splinter Cell series, Crysis, etc. filter their shadow maps to avoid this issue, but a game like Dead Space or Call of Duty does not so you'll see aliasing.

ever since I installed this driver on my windows 7 system I haven't been able to use 1280x720 resolutions in non full screen games. Street fighter 4 for example.

PC Treiber is hosting the file, its a self extracting exe, 7zip.

Went over the bandwidth limit on Megaupload.

Any hope of this happening for XP, or do we have to wait for ATI? :(

Have you tried to modify your Graphic-Settings ALL to high (=> DX9-mode), instead of ultra? I have read, that it could have something to do with the DX10-mode. All Settings maxed out means DX10.

I have expirienced the same Problems with the Cat. 9.6 AND 9.7 (HD4870 512MB, Win7 RC x64)...so I hope, this problem will be solved by AMD, soon.
The Computer of my girlfriend and of a good friend shows the same problem (HD 2900XT& HD3870, both on Vista x64)

It has nothing to do with overclocking or RAM-size! Some people always blame overclocking for instability... :)
