    Can you be a little more clear, have you extracted the file using Winrar (or 7zip or Winzip)? If so you have run the Setup.exe? And if you have done all that are you saying the drivers say it can't find your card?

    Your 2900XT is in the inf files and should install.

    Can't Install!!

    Sorry if I wasn't clear enough and not replying quickly been trying again, it's been a long day!!

    Yeah extrected with winrar and ran setup.exe, tried running in compat mode for vista as suggested elsewhere also.

    I can install cim, hdmi driver, hydravision and the vc redist but just do not have an option to select the driver or the ccc and running express mode just installs all of the above.

    Looking in the install log it has the vendor id for my card there so it appears to find it but is not willing to install a driver.

    Manual install through device manager also fails, if I run normally it says I already have the best driver, if I edit the windows version on the inf as advised on ATI forum it tries to actually install it but then I get a msg that the driver is not for this version of windows.

    You shouldn't have to run in compatibility mode, it works in Win7.

    It should just work.

    What is the device I.D string for your card?

    Can't install!!

    Yeah I know, I didn't run in compat mode 1st off all, then tried few things off the ATI/AMD forum one of which was compat mode, also inf editing etc but am back on a clean install now and no modified files.

    Straight from the log:

    Hardware information
    Name ATI Radeon Graphics Processor
    Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
    Device ID 0x9400
    Vendor ID 0x1002
    Class Code 0x030000
    Revision ID 0x00
    Subsystem ID 0x021e
    Subsystem vendor ID 0x1043

    Cheers, Bobby.

    Go into the inf file and find the entry for the 2900XT, should be this;

    "ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT" = ati2mtag_R600, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9400&SUBSYS_25521002

    Remove the SUBSYS data, so it looks like this;

    "ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT" = ati2mtag_R600, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9400

    Save it and try again.

    You could also go to device manger 'Display adapters' and get the proper SUBSYS data, it will be under 'Details' and then choose 'Hardware Ids' from the drop down menu.

    If this fails and you still want to pursue this, start a new thread.

    I don't get it, All games play great, but The Last Remnant is still giving me choppy frames.

    Any idea whats going on? Any 4870 X2 users who play this game having the same issues at all?

    It's been like that on all drivers I've used.

    Try this, I have had trouble installing onto my Toshiba A200 laptop, found the best way was to run update driver from device manager, choose browse my computer for software, then let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, then just click have disk and point it to the driver package you dloaded and the specific inf file. Worked for my laptop when everything else failed and could update CCC but not the diplay driver...which is what everyone wants.
    Good luck and hope this helps.:)

    Thx, but thats not it. I tried reducing graphics. Seems to be a bug, unless anybody knows of a custom made patch or something.
