I play COD World at War a bit and run an GTS250 1G card ( < got to update my pc stats sorry). Was wondering what nvidia driver would work best with this card? Any experiences you could note down here with this card and its drivers maybe? Would love to know.

    Cheers.

all drivers 182.50, 186.08, 186.18 worked fine in cod waw, except 185 had broken anisotropic filtering in all games.

And btw there isn't such a driver that's best for one card lol, each driver supports all cards from geforce 5 or 6 upwards, well usually..

i agree..i have tried all the newer drivers..and so far i always have gone back to 185.85 for the main reason of fps...all newer ones tend to go up and down between 70-90 fps..the 185.85 are always around 90 fps for me anyway!!

with broken AF no thanks,... maybe you don't see it, but its there.

btw using a setting - dual video cards stabilizes fps, i've been enabling this since my old 8800 and it makes more smooth mouse movements, otherwise i noticed some minor jitter/stutter when looking around, despite 90fps cap...

edit: you're right it does jump form 70 -90 allot with latest 186.18, i didnt see it with earlier versions 182.50 didn't have it for sure, gonna go back to 186.08 and try again, i think it worked fine with these too..

edit: PB got updated i played like a week ago and it was all normal, now i notice more jumps because of that, its not the driver after all, and it doesnt fell smooth although its running between 70-90fps...

Think you need to unlock your FPS

    /Coms_MAXFPS = 150

    or something .

but anyways as long as its over 60FPS you can't see the difference.

Mind you I don't have the GTS250, but.

I find the LOD in the 186.18 a bit low, also my FPS in CoD4 are 70-90 @1650X1080 "Not max detail". The 182.50 are 71-143 FPS same settings and to me the AF and LOD just look better so reverted back.

Its the first time I downgraded drivers, I usually wait for the next set but didn't like the 186.18 much.

    Hope this helps

EDIT: Thought I should add this is on Vista64.

Yes, the OS always has some effect.

Just switched to the 190.38 drivers and they are solid so far. Truth is, what works for one guy doesn't always work for another. It is always recommended to try the drivers for your self to really see which is better, no two people see things the same, whats my gold could be your garbage.

The ones that I see recommended most based on speed/looks and compatibility are the 185.85 the 190.15 and the 182.50.

    Hope this helps.

I thought I would add a link with comparisons, so you can get an idea what I'm talking about.

In the link below you will see there is very little difference in FPS form release to release. This is not the whole story though. Some just look better, others you can see difference in details. Mind you these are screen shots and you might not be able to see the difference in game "Blast my old eyes lol". But some can see this difference, hence the examples.

What I try to look for is more stable FPS, by this I mean higher lows and highs adding up to a smoother overall frame rate with enough clarity that I can pick out my opponent from a distance "But that's just me, you see what I mean?".
