I'd like to get the highest amount of AA and AF for my games. Do I Disable any in-game options for these and just use my global ATT settings or do I set both if possible? edit: nvm my specs..they are outdated as hell but I can't bring myself to change them.
Use the enhanced AA settings in nVidia Control Panel - or ATT. No need to disable ingame options. Does your card support AA/AF?
I have 4870, and I have tray tools all maxed out, was just wondering what to do with the in-game settings.
I don't think Tweakguides agrees with you He doesn't mention it in any kind of detail though and doesnt say how to handle AF.
Why did you bother asking....the answer to your other questions you will also find on tweak guides, under optimizations. Forced AA isn't officially supported by nVidia and doesn't work with a lot of games.
Thats all well and fine, but like I said in my second post I use an ATI 4870 vid card not an Nvidia. The reason I'm bothering to ask is because its still about as clear as mud which method of applying AA/AF takes precedence, ATT or game settings. I understand that you are only trying to help.
You don't need to disable AA/AF in the game. If you used forced AA in ATT, the driver will override the game settings, forcing whichever AA method you apply. To answer your first post simply, for the best IQ in ATI you need to disable Catalyst AI, turn off both Temporal AA & Adaptive AA, disable all optimizations, and enable High Quality Anisotropic Filtering & HDR... The enhance method lets the game decide what textures on your screen get AF/AA applied to them, but the driver still controls the type of AA applied, and also the amount of AA (ie.2x 4x 8x etc.). So even if you only have 8x option in the game menu, if 16x AA is selected in the control panel, then you'll get 16x AA in game......
Trust me, I've owned more than one ATI card... You'll prob want to enable SSAA (supersampling) if you have the option I think ATI calls it something else... Also set LOD to clamp, and bias to 0 Then just enable the highest AA/AF settings your card has.
I've enabled 8x edge-detect AA but to enable SS mode I need to enable adaptive anti-aliasing it will also then enable MS Mode wich is either to be set at 3-sharp,2,1 or 0-smooth. AF is fine at high-quality af 16x
Actually the only reason is I had read it looked sweet...havent compared it much myself. No not playing crysis. I'm not after a performance blend..I want to see the best this card can do, in all my games
I thought edge detect was the supposed to be the best AA filter? ->http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTUzMiw3LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==
