    I have a 590 Chipset... or the M2N32 SLi Delux from Asus... I have heard that I can use a 940BE PII, but will the 955 work as well, I think it would be nice to have this Processor and in the near future when DDR3 and the newer DDR3 mobo come down in price will updage then.

    Will this work, or should i say screw it and just get a 940 for 25 bucks less and just wait another year or so and get the newest and latest and greatest then??? Thanks!:nerd:

    I have the same board as you, and am running the 940BE o/c to 3.6 stable now for almost a month. You need BIOS 2205 for it to recongize the CPU correctly! As far as the 955, I have not seen anyone try it yet on this board, but there really is no reason why it wouldn't! Let us know if you get the 955 and get it running!

    Here is a great forum suppoting the M2N32 SLI deluxe board: http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherboards/366989-asus-m2n-sli-m2n32-sli-club.html

    I know for a fact that CPU support pages aren't always often updated.

    @circumcizr: I would wait if I were you, unless you need a quad CPU for some reason. But seeing as you're running XP, I fail to see what you'd really benefit from upgrading to a quad core.

    yeh I'd just wait until you can get a mainboard that has official support for the 955, maybe an AM3 one

    Well the main reason why I want to get it is I think my 6400+ is starting to die. this chip hates to be OCed. and i have a just a meer 5% over clock...

    But video is starting to skip and so is the sound. Also been getting some weird blue screens of death... Mainly in xp. i do have windows 7 build 7000.... Also xp is fresh just reinstalled it afew months ago thinking it would help, but nope... Also starting to see my fps in games starting to dwindle and just little weird things.... Or maybe its my mobo dying.... :bugeye:

    Then there is the fact that I really want to get a 5870 when they come out maybe should wait and do that, fug i dont know....... Im starting to hate how fast this technology is coming out....

    Could it also be the motherboard starting to crap out? It may not be the CPU that's going out...

    As I said above, the 940BE will run fine on the board, if you want/need it and can afford it, go for it. I had a 5000BE o/c to 3.2 and had a 3dmark 06 score of 9200. I put the 940BE into this board and o/c it to 3.6 stable and now get 18150. Was a nice jump for the bucks!

    Yea, that CPU support page is wrong. It also says there is no support for the PII X3 or PII X4 on the Crosshair board either, which I know is wrong. I would say yes your M2N32 will support the 955. But as others said, I personally, would wait and get a MB and CPU together. You will really be wasting a lot of the 955's potential using it on the 590 chipset, hence why I have waited to do it till now. But if you must, the 940, 955, any of them should work fine on your board with the updated BIOS.

    To the OP, I would suggest doing some reading on the Asus forums. Some people say they have gotten the x3 720, x4 940 and 955 working fine using BIOS 2101 on their M2N32 SLI, while others, including an Asus Rep say it won't work. So it's hard to say. Odd since the specs do list the board as AM2/AM2+/AM3 compatible. I would still suggest really waiting, and getting a new Mobo with the CPU, just to avoid the possibility of any major hassles.

    Good luck. Hope this helps.

    maybe the crapping out is rather a motherboard or powersupply issue (check for blown or swollen capacitors on the mobo first - and look carefully)

    Ok maybe ill just wait for alittle while yet. I know my next setup is going to be all AMD/ATi stuff. Ill just wait and get myself a 5870 when it comes out and wait for newer mobo's and cpu's to come out...

    Im thinkin the reason why my stuff is startin to act weird is my 2 8800gt's have been runing oced at 700/1753/1000 for along time, and one of them always gets to 80+Deg C... So its prolly the video cards Im thinkin. Plus they being in sli are starting to get to slow to run the games of today at 80+fps... I wana run at 100 again like i did when they first came out lol!!! btw running 1680X1050

    Anyways, quick question and i think i remember reading if you buy a AM3 board you can still use ddr2 ram??? Or am i mistaken? And is Pci Express 3.0 really coming out soon?

    AM3 boards only accept DDR3. You're thinking about AM2+ boards that accept AM3 processors, those support DDR2 memory. However, for a complete new build, I'd recommend ditching the DDR2 memory and go DDR3.

    Ya thats what im thinking too.... Thats why i think i might wait for a bit with a compleat build.... I am just going to update a few pieces at a time... Then wait 3 years and do a whole new update again...... lol!:banana:

    How is it wasted on a 590 Chipset? How about the processor doesn't actually run at full speed? nForce 590 is an HT2 chipset....PhenomII is an HT3 processor....you're slowing the processor down.

    I have a PII940BE running, as shown above, my 3dmark 06 score rocked! Go to the above forum link and you will see MANY running the cpu on this board. YES there is minor limitations running on the board, the HT is less yes. But in real world benchmarks, as seen in the forum, the difference is very minimal! This board is tried and true, and is a rock solid board. Keep it as long as you can! Don't waste money on a few fps more! It is a VERY nice upgrade for the M2N32 SLI DELUXE!

    Well looking at the Guru3d review of the x3 720, it looks like my setup runs everything the same if not faster than their test setup with ht 3.0 and mine at 1.0. Say what you will but you cant argue with that.

    Ok so I finaly broke down and bought a 940BE with my M2N32 Sli Delux Wireless addition...

    Ok so it seemed like this was going to work just perfect from reading about 30 posts of people that have successfully done this... But here's what happend to me!!!

    First i found that there is a 2207 Bios so i did that really quick. when and uninstalled my video card drivers, my cpu driver and such. then took apart everything on my mobo to clean it.

    Well putting everything together it went great without a hitch!!!!

    Started it up posted just fine... set everything in bios and restarted and it wouldnt post nothing would pop up just my monitor's light blinking... restarted it 5 times nothing. finaly pull the batter to reset the cmos.

    ok i have 2 partions one with xp and one with windows 7. the xp is my main thing i use for games and everything. but it uses raid 0 wich you have to set in the bios, but bios doesnt save it says bios bad checksom... wtf does that mean...

    I think ineed to try and go back to the 2201 bios!

    anyone else know anything?

    Your processor wouldn't be running at HT1.0 speeds...lol.

    HT1.0 = 800mhz max (Socket 754)
    HT2.0 = 1400mhz max (Socket 939, 940, AM2, AM2+)
    HT3.0 = 2600mhz max (Socket AM2+, AM3)
    HT3.1 = 3200mhz max

    HT1.0 was only used for Socket 754.

    a Phenom or Phenom2 stuck at HT1.0 bus speeds would CRAWL....you'd be lucky to see windows in 5mins.
