Great photo Glidefan, but i am a little worried about your focusing.
The rear blur is fine, but the forward blur is also a little difficult on the eyes, as it looks like 'double' exposure.
Take a look at the word 'exo' above, and see how good the blur looks. Then look at the word 'exofficio' below, and see how this second word looks as if there are 2 words on top of each other, out of focus and slightly offset.
This could be caused by a lens filter if you have one on. Try another shot, but with the filter off.
If you dont have one, then the forwarding focusing of your lens could have a problem.

Its still a great photo, and would look so much better with a quality fountain pen, instead of a cheap Biro.

Know what you mean. It actually bothers me but i guess its because i was at very end of the focusing distance. Even a single mm closer and it wouldn't focus.
Tried the 18-55mm lens and it was better but it changed the perspective a lot.
And don't ever EVER call my Bic a cheapo. (I broke my fountain pen ages ago :D)

Edit: crap, i had the UV filter on.

Holy crap guys. Some freakin' amazing pictures in this thread. I've always known that I wasn't very artsy or good at picture taking but I never knew that people could be this good at it! Many thanks and congratulations to those who have contributed to this great thread.

@ iLovePieNCake - I have no idea of how old you are so I figured I would ask about the wife first. Either way, the years have been kind to her.............

trying out my new raynox dcr 150 close up lens, I am quite impressed with the iq for £40, especially as it is attached to a very cheap tamron 55-200mm lens.
