For some reason the link width of my video card has been reduced to
only X4 instead of the normal X16. I have tried everything I can think of
but I cant seem to get it back to X16. There is no option in the bios to change the value.
I have tried flashing the motherboard bios and reset to default settings.
I have installed three ATI drivers for the video card, running 9.5 now.
I dont know what else to do, any suggestions?

You should contact GIGABYTE since this issue I've never seen before. Do you only have that one card listed?

Yes I only have the 3850 but I had a friend bring over his 8800GTS and once I put that in and booted up it was 16X. So then I put the 3850 back in and it came up as 16X. weird, makes no sense.

So after many reboots and the same hardware I come up with 16X.
I guess I just had to make the motherboard reset. Weird. but I must say seeing my video card at 4X instead of 16X was very disturbing.

probably there was an issue with the BIOS itself.
