Whenever I try booting Vista I get a 0xc00000e9 error and it says that theres something wrong with the fltmgr.sys file. I know for sure that my hdd is fine becuase I dual boot on Windows 7 from the same hdd and thats how I'm posting here. I had over 20gb of system restores but I can't do that either. Help?
fltmgr.sys = Microsoft Filesystem (Filter?) Manager and is related to I/O disk processes. Some people have had problems with vista and running both IDE and SATA drives in their system. Also happens to people running RAID setups sometimes (I read). I looked a bit but couldn't find anything very helpful... stuff like: "Load Bios defaults and reinstall vista" "Reinstall vista, make sure it's on the SATA drive" Sorry... anyway, bumping your thread.
Problems? Lol I had to install Win7 by way of unattended install of another HDD cause the damn thing would not boot from a dvd ever. Not 1 of 4 different versions I d/l. Just use ERD to get into the OS then replace the problem file. It'll be in your Windows/system folder. Did you uninstall your SATA drivers right before the boot failure?
Yup , it didn't work. Thing is I don't know how this happened. I switched off my computer then went out and when I came back it gave me this error on switching it on. The only thing I did before was enabling acpi 2.0 in the bios which I now disabled.

I've had Vista installed for over a month. I haven't installed any new hardware either. So that couldn't have caused it.
Windows Vista doesn't install without power-saving features (ACPI 2.0) available to it. In your case you should enter the bios of you computer and enable ACPI. Leave the other settings at their default values, no need to change them. After you have enabled ACPI in the bios, you should re-attempt to install Windows Vista.
