hi all, I'm G.Aravind, currently located in Mumbai, India. I've got a 2.5 yr old PC, which I want to upgrade. The specs are: CPU : Intel Core2Duo E4300 1.8 GHZ 800MHz FSB MOBO : Intel 945GC RAM : Dynet 2 * 1GB 800 MHz(I suppose) GPU : NVidia GeForce 8400GS 256MB @ stock clock speeds PSU : came with the case(Zebronics case) 400W, a pretty bad one I would like your help in getting me decided on the possible upgrades for my PC (I know that the whole system needs to be changed :bang. My pocket's pretty cramped and I would like some suggestions within 20K INR. It would also be helpful if the prices be in INR as I found some gap in the prices in USD(converted in INR) and the actual prices for which the components are available here in India.
Oh, I got a LG 17inch TFT monitor with max resolution of 1280 * 1024. n I'm just another gamer (playing many new games, including Crysis, Mass Effect, Crysis:Warhead, FEAR, etc. on the same PC specified ) which many of you may have encountered
just for the info Live rates at 2009.04.27 08:16:38 UTC 20,000.00 INR = 400.251 USD India Rupees United States Dollars 1 INR = 0.0200125 USD 1 USD = 49.9686 INR using http://www.xe.com/
Thnx for the exchange rate hi sql, Thnx for the exchange rate info. what I meant was that the prices of components here in India in INR is more than wht it would turn out to be if we converted the price in USD to INR using the current exchange rate. neway, its gud to see that INR is picking up w.r.t USD. Thnx for the gr8 news again
well from what I've seen is available in India the Corsair 400W and 450W are going to be the best budget PSU choices...3-4k INR...I reckon those will power anything that the rest of a 20k budget allows. Antec EA650 is the best buy in the higher wattage range here: http://www.lynx-india.com/index.php?productID=2120
@ Makalu Thnx for the PSU option. I just read the review of ATI HD4770, which requires 2 six pin (PCI-E)connectors for running it. 1. Will Corsair 400/450 W PSU be able to handle it? I also read the thread regarding PSU's you wrote. That was very informative and also the amperage ratings for different PSUs. 2. Will my processor bottleneck a GPU like HD 4770(acc to Guru3d, it costs about 99$, so must be available in India @5-6k) or 9800GT (Dumb question). 3. Will I be able to run any future games on my current processor(another dumb question but humans never let go of hope, do they ) Thanx again for the response!!
1.It only needs one PCI-E 6pin >> but yeh the corsair will easily handle the HD4770. 2.Your cpu will not be that bad of a bottleneck. 3.Yeh it will do for now but i would try and upgrade in the next few months.
@ kyzler Thnx for the almost instant response. This forums jst gr8 at it. But in the review didnt he say that the card needs 2 PCI-E connectors(in the image only one's shown though). I would like your options on the upgrades possible.
Hmmm it seems it says is uses 2 PCIE-6pins very odd but none the less the corsair will still power it. An upgrade on anything will depend on your motherboard though what one do you have ?
Ok well it only supports up to the Core 2 Duo E4700. So i would think you would be best of replacing your motherboard. but it depends what kind of the budget you would have. But you would be fine running a HD4770 for now till you get a full system overhall i would get one in the next say 6months if you can.
So u think it'll be fine if i just go for upgrading my GPU from 8400GS to HD4770 and a corsair 400PSU
Is there any news out as to when the card will be available in India and at what price(in INR), coz since I read the review, I jst cant wait to get my hands on it.
Yeah, I just read on Techtree that the expected prices are $100(approx Rs.5000) in US and Rs.6500 in India. See this was what the difference in prices I was talking about. I mean why would there be a difference of 1.5k in the price in India and US, i.e., about $30 more for the same card in India.
The tough part is that I partly know the answer that the cards are not manufactured in India. hard luck
http://www.theitwares.com/smps/smps.htm The Tagan 500W PSU costs less than Corsair 450 W PSU. which one do you guys think is better to go for. I'm planning to go for a HD4770 whenever it arrives in India (review says it requires 2 PCI-E connectors)
The tagan should easily handle the HD4770 as its only hitting 70-80w on fulload ^^ i can't see the 2nd PCIE power connector :S
That's what I too am confused about. The photos don't show any second PCI-E connector but the reviewer says it requires 2. The review says it is the final product that the reviewer recieved and not just an engineering sample. So I guess I've got to wait till its clarified.
