For vista users u guys should know about the windows experience index score. 5.9 is the highest. I got 5.7 and my hdd is the one holding my score down. i have those regular 7200rpm hdds do i need a raptor to get a 5.9? I was disappointed that at 4ghz my c2d scored a 5.8 and not a 5.9 In the past at 4.23ghz i got 5.9 if i remember correctly. So does anyone know wat is the exact speed the cpu and the hdd has to be to get a 5.9?
I got 5.9 with my E8400 @ 4.0 Ghz (450x9) and my hd is a Seagate 7200.10 250GB BTW, it's not really important
why is your score higher???? my cpu speed is 443x9 so it's 3.995 which is effectively 4ghz. That's odd why is your score higher?
OKay i ran the test again with my new speed and still got 5.8. Something's wrong somewhere. :bang: I think your vista's weird. 2nd poster.
theres actually alot of differences between your systems. you have vista32 he has vista64 you have ddr2-800 he has ddr2-1066 and my guess is he has more hdd cache than you do thats why your score is weaker. for example if he has a 32mb cache drive and you have an 8 mb or 16mb cache hdd. then there you go, thats why. yes a raptor will give you 5.9 garunteed. but at the same time you dont need a raptor to get a 5.9. if thats what your after.
I just got it I have the 5.9 with this setup. AMD PhenomII 920 2.8Ghz 4GB Kingston HyperX 1066 DDR2 RAM 500 GB Hitachi 7200rpm HD BFG 8800GT OC2 Scores 5.9 on all criteria
I didn't pay attention to his specs just his cpu speed. I am surprised that rams affect the cpu score even if both cpus are at the same speed. i got 5.9 for my ram score showing 800mhz is good enough. As for the hdd thing yes the cache thing must be it. I think the 2nd poster knows about this but did not tell me only his cpu speed making it seem like my hardware is below par or degraded.
as long as the memory controller is linked or using a fsb ratio, it affects the cpu. nvidia nforce boards are the only s775 chipset that you can unlink the memory from the cpu fsb as far as i know.
Might check and see if your HD is a 16Mb Cache... if so you will need to go to a 32Mb Cache which should bring your score up to 5.9....
You need a faster HDD AND lower the timing of your DDR2-6400. Or OC it, like me I clocked it to DDR2-900 at 4-4-4-5-2T with 2.2v Right now im clocked at 3.8ghz with low voltage and I still get 5.9 everywhere.
Sorry but that wasn't my intention , I didn't have more time to continue posting Here you have more info about my rig : E8400 @ 4.0Ghz - 450x9 3GB (2x1GB Ballistix Tracer + 2x512 Patriot) @ 900 4-4-4-12-35 PL8 Foxconn Mars P35 and the system harddrive is a Seagate 7200.10 250GB with 8MB Cache (with AHCI drivers) I'm using Windows Vista x64 SP2 and i keep it clean with CCleaner and defragmented with Auslogics Disk Defrag The combination of that stuff should do the extra points PD: Sorry for my bad english
Buy the best of everything!!! Do you have AHCI enabled in the BIOS for your HDs? I think it likes Intel processors better. I recall the same thing a while back and couldn't figure out why my HD only got 5.8.:bang:
