    There was some tension on mine, enough so that i backed off to check all was seated right. In the end, all went good and the tension you feel is just the flex on the locking pin to close.

    this is correct, I wasnt sure if this was normal or not at first either, however I have not had any problems so I can only assume this is normal with this board

    i can confirm the same tension when locking down an i7 on a gigabyte mobo as well,but no issues and all is running well so it seems like this is the norm,guess intel wanted these cpus locked down tight

    odd, I had no issues with tension on my gigabyte ud5. It went in like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

    I had the UD5 also prior to my p6t and there indeed wasn't that tension. Had to RMA my UD5 back as it wound up being a bad board after a week or so. Couldn't wait for the RMA delivery time, so I grabbed the P6T at local fryes.

    Now I got a brand new UD5 here..... Ebay time:banana:
