Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english. But it isnt my native language. Well, the other day i picked up a XFX 9800GTX+ XXX edition, and i was wondering how far can i overclock the memory for a 24/7 use. It seems that it uses 0.8nm hynx but i still didnt check so i am not sure. The stock speed is 1125 (2250 effective)...so i oced it up to 1200 and ran perfectly. Then i tried 1250 (2500 effective.) and also worked flawless, without any errors. The max i made was 1376 (2752) 3dmark stable, but i think that it wasnt 100% stable on the majority of games. I think that the perfect value was 1350. But that seems a lot high to my, so i am not really sure what should i do... Now i have seted the memory at 2500 effective (1250) and im using that value for 24/7. So.. How far you guys think that it would be safe to go? The temperature it isnt a problem, its cold here, and never passes the 60c at load. Thanks in advance.
I use ATI Tool, because I play GRID and COD4. I have mine set at 821/1935/2300 24/7 and can bench @ about 861/2034/2450 is the highest I have been able to manage (with SLi). I would test your setup with ATI tool, for about ~20 minutes if your system can handle this you should be ok (ATI tool and almost every other sytem minus Mark XX does not use SLi). But that is only my system. If you are not running SLi or are lucky your card/setup could/can handle more. And if your GPU/'s is/are from EVGA you can adjust your GPU volts, which is what I will do next, Vmod my SLi setup. ~John
Use Atitool for stressing the memory, 2 hours at least, i guess that your overclock is to high....In atitool my hynix 0.8 work ok at 2500mhz maxx, in 3dmark at 2700....
Well, after some tests in ati tool, i leave it at 800/1282/1900. The shaders seems that are not stable in any other value
mine is at an effective of 2592.......it`ll go much higher, but i`m just keeping it here for 24/7 use..... also, my card is pretty oc`d and i don`t wanna risk fookin` it
Thanks for the clock infos, will need them soon! The best way to tell in seconds, if your clocks are suitable: - Download Furmark - Go to install folder and run "Start-Xtreme-Burning.bat" or the new mode I just discovered: "Start-Xtreme-Burning-With-Post-Processing.bat" I have a power meter connected to my rig, and when Furmark is running it needs 230W, and just 200W when using ATItool. Plus, ATItool doesn't manage to get my cards to 3D clocks, gotta do it manually. Didn't OC my card yet, still trying to get HDMI-Audio running on that crap :bang:.
