Monitor make lovely speakers, and that old Technics amp must be great. Got any pics? It's funny how you get a kind of emotional attachment to that old equipment. My dad still has this old amp from the 70s - nobody lets him get rid of it.

Yup I love both of them, I don't think I ever buying another set of speakers :D They sounded so great despite their age, my father never ever gonna sell these things to others so I get it, and he have a better Technics amp too, he is a Technics freak at one time ;)

    Here is some pics:
    The amplifier:

    Damn, they look brilliant :)

Hook those up to a quality turntable, get a comprehensive LP collection and you'd never want to leave your room...!

I've gone through a myriad of setups.
Personal favorites were the JL F113s (had two.. miss them :() and the DIY RL-P18. Miss those, but damn I love the JBL MRX528S'. The SQL surpasses the JL, that says alot.
Sold all the old HT gear and invested in the JBL setup (wasn't bought for home usage, I just happen to use it at home when they're not out at gigs), you can find it in my videos. In a couple months I should have 4x of the 528s and 4x of the 525s as well as 8x FRS-2800s from Mackie.

Stopped using my crappy 5.1 system. Now I just use Sennheiser 595s hooked right into my Auzentech Prelude (the 595s are 50 Ohms).

Since I watch most movies on my computer, I just use CMSS Headphone - more than convincing.

I'm thinking of getting a headphone amp for the 595s though (not for portable use), any suggestions?

Meh. Loud but nowt special ;)

I'd stick with my homemade IPL S4TLs and Linn Majik-I for absolute clarity any day.

Depends what you use it for, I guess.

No change really. I got a pair of Alessandros (Grado based) and they are fantastic! Still haven't got around to building any amps for them though...

My PC died so I don't have a decent source at the moment - might buy some kind of nice laptop soundcard - garbage in = garbage out. Still. Sounds good :)

Same speakers/amp too - I know it's not very high end but I really like it. Again, my tiny room is far from ideal, set-up wise.

But yeah, I like the idea of a lithium powered portable amp for the Alessandros to make the most of the on-the-move FLAC goodness :)

Impressive looking speakers Deckard! I still really want to do that. No space at the moment though. Not sure the GF will let it happen next year as we're sharing a room...

What are the specs of the speakers?

    Crossover KHz: 2.6, 2nd order
    200 Watts max
    Wiring: HU1 Silver plated PTFE
    Sensitivity db SPL 89
    Frequency Response: 27Hz - 22KHz
    Frequency Linearity: + or - 1.5db (250 Hz to 22KHz)

Half of that means nothing to me! :grad:

All i know is, they sound really nice.

Alessandros always appealed to me - they look identical to Grados though, and I've always wondered what the difference is between the two. Yours would be comparable to.... SR-225s?
