ok well ive a 40 inch hdtv. I think it supports up to 1020i? if thats right... yes im a boob. Anyway whats the diff in 1020p?
also mine came with the componant hd cables, would there be any reason to buy the hdmi ones?

If I did do I set up my tv's colour etc... to display the game better because ive seen people on forums say about this and things like turning stuff off on the tvs options. prob jus nonsense.

finally i have a vga hd cable to plug the xbox into my pc monitor so i can have a shot at it in my room but my monitors connections are dvi and i cant find a vga to dvi adapter anywhere, does any1 know where ye cud find one?

    thanks

yes hdmi is much better than component, its digital afterall. Using component on my PS3 i could only get a crappy 536i resolution, not even deinterlaced. Stuch a HDMI on it and its a sweet 1080p :)

I'm using 1080p on my component cables. Picture is crystal clear.

HDMI all the way if you have the option.

You can get the same signals with both HDMI and Component. HDMI is pretty much easier to use if you have that option. If you only have component then you wont lose anything really.

As for looking for a DVI -> VGA Adapter you may have to look at a local computer shop or a shop that sells electronic parts such as radioshack (here in the states). You can also try looking online, just look for DVI -> VGA adapter.

If you have a 720p (1280x720) HDTV the highest you probably can do is 1080i. If you have a 1080p (1920×1080) HDTV then you will be able to use the highest resolution available. If you're doing 720p -> 1080i vs 1080p you will notice a difference mainly because one is a higher resolution and the other is compressed. Stick with progressive rather than interlaced.
