Which brand should I get? I'm getting one of today and the three brands are about the same price. Standard (non OC, modded versions) cards. :biggun:

    I googled and couldn't find a definite answer :(

these 2 are the best atm, as far as cooling goes,.
    Sapphire toxic 4870 512mb
    or
    Powercolor 4870 1gb edition
I would go with powercolor because of 1gb vram. for example look at gta4 and vram mem usage, im sure it wont be the first game that needs more or at least 1gb vram to run at almost/maxed settings and resolution.

Watch out for the dreaded fan problem with the Power color one, other than that its a fine card if you don't get the bug or know how to update bios.

They both use different cooling solutions. I just played with the PC version a few days ago while building a rig.

Check links and you can see the differences in the cards fans....

Powercolor (PCS+) suffers from some sort of Bios problem causing its fan to spin at 100% and sometimes not at all until the gpu reaches a high temp in which it goes to 100% and repeats the cycle. Easily fixed with a bios update and Ive seen some users report not having the bug at all.

You can even just check comments on newegg or google it.

I have not experienced this problem but then I don't let the drivers auto manage the fan speed.

I've have a Visiontek and Powercolor, and they are both excellent.

I had to lower my quad overclock though. My PSU can't take this much abuse :( 550 Watts is not suited in this case. I'm planning on getting a 850 or 1000 one soon. :bang:
