Will do... was kind of a joke, when I found out that he was a dutchman 2 :nerd:

The translation didn't work that well, but what I meant 2 say is that..
If the patch is good I will definetly get the game, that I already ordered but haven't picked up yet... and he mentioned only X360 controller support, well for a very cheap price you can own a wireless 360 controller, because of my poor fysical condition (lower back problems) and can nou easily stand/sit/lie down while playing, with keyboard and mouse it's harder for me + GTA4 really plays well with a controller for handeling the camera and stuff.... :3eyes:

but thnx for the warning .... I will keep that in mind, your UNIVERSAL language kicks ass

Nah, no SLI. I'm setup on a 37" tv with a native res of 1360x768 so I can't run it at a higher resolution than that. I think my CPU at 4.15ghz is keeping me afloat. I did however run it on my daughter's monitor this morning and got this @1680x1050:

    Average FPS: 45.84
    Duration: 37.13 sec
    CPU Usage: 83%
    System memory usage: 52%
    Video memory usage: 98%

    Graphics Settings
    Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)
    Texture Quality: Medium
    Render Quality: Highest
    View Distance: 32
    Detail Distance: 100

    Hardware
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Service Pack 3
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    Video Driver version: 180.84
Audio Adapter: SB X-Fi Audio [D000]
    Intel Pentium III Xeon processor

With the settings above (and res @1360x768, Detail Dist @33), the FRAPS benchmark after 30 minutes of heavy car chasing and such outdoors showed a minimum FPS of 31 and average of 46.

Driver isn't properly installed then, though you'd have to determine where the fault lies or spend a bit thoroughly cleaning.

OMG!!! I mean almost got the same specs, but I never overclock, do you?

Because if you're not.. that means that getting my XP dualboot back to work just for GTA4 might do the trick there??

Does GTA4 use DX10?? I mean do i miss out any good stuff when just DX9?

My CPU is overclocked (from 3.0 to 4.15ghz), card is at stock. With your quad at say 3.2ghz or so, you ought to be able to outperform my rig. (in theory anyways, GTA may have other plans lol). Even at stock a quad should be sufficient.

Not sure what issues you are having or whether XP would fix 'em. I boned my Vista drive last month so I'm not on dual-boot for now either. I thought I heard this game was DX9 only though I could be mistaken.

GTA IV does not use DX10, this is the reason we aren't seeing AA.

DX10 has nothing to do with AA.

You can do AA in DX10 also.

still doesnt change the fact that dx10 has nothing to do with AA...

But it does point out that Rockstar were lazy.

who many people here have see AA being done without dx10? (just proving my point, no need to answer). :)

DX10 obviously was the difference between having AA and not having AA. I don't see how it is unrelated when the developer is telling you it's the sole reason. I understand that AA has been around before DX10 (haha), but obviously how GTA IV was built meant it had to have DX10 to use AA.

Some rendering pipelines DO require dx10 to do AA: theUnreal3 engine's per pixel-lighting and the X-ray engine in Stalker:CS using deferred rendering, for example.
