Yesterday I tested out RT for the first time, using low-level fan control I could hear the fan speed change.

Have not changed a thing, woke up this morning, fan speed will no longer adjust.

    Already uninstalled, re-installed.. No dice..

    Any suggestions?

Did your GPU temps changed? some GPU have auto-rules which overwrite low-level control from XºC to YºC, in this case use driver-level

if temps r the same, idk xP

Doesnt seem to want to work off the bat, I must have spent a good 3-4 hours today trying to figure out what could have possibly changed that caused it to stop working.

I even tried sys restore, with a fresh install of RT, no luck.

Could this have something to do with 2d/3d mode, maybe vista is just stuck in a mode that fan speed will not work in??

Nothing really changed, I've tried EVGA tool but nothing. It defaults to 43% and will no longer change.

    Using: 178.13_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whql.exe

I am not clueless, the low-level fan control will not work, no matter what I do.

    Try driver level.

I have literally tried every single option. When it worked, I didn't tinker with it much. I just checked off low-lel box, and adjust and upon apply, I could hear the RPM lower. The only other change I made was to adjust MinFanSpeedLimit under Riva Tuner /Fan

I am fairy seasoned technical engineer, though I must say, I am stumped.

There doesnt seem to be a debug option for verbose output from RT, so its really a guessing game.

I'm dying to know whats different now. I originally though it was possibly related to driver signing, but I have disabled, and still no avail. I have installed, reinstalled under disabled driver signing, still nothing.

RivaTuner's low-level functionality will not be available when driver signing enforcement is enabled under Vista x64. You must disable driver signing enforcement in order to use full RivaTuner's feature set under Vista x64.

I am begining to thisnk its the card itself, lots of material on this subject, including a mod on the card itself which I'm not really interested in.

OK so I saved every setting I can find, registry, etc.. I have absolutely no idea what changed, but It's working no problem now on my 7800 GT OC.

Low-Level fan control from 0-100% working flawlessly

As far as I remember, there was issue with fully/partially dead transistor in fan control circuir of some 7800GTs:

From your description I'm afraid that your fan control circuit is dying too.

    Stopped working again.

Unwinder: Is there are there any debug drivers available, I would like to really see what is going on. I am clueless, I would like to think its not the hardware.
