    Hey guys,

since i read a lot threads in this section and i know, that a lot of guys/girls with good knowledge are here, i will put my probleme in this thread hoping for help:

i got a 9800GTX+ (the OC version with 745 MHz instead of 738) from gainward

i got my core on 810 and my shaders on 1900 and the ram on 1200.
I have tested that with GPU Caps viewer and Atitools (both running). No artifacts so far.

when i increase the shader a little bit (say 10 mhz) i get artefacts...
Why can't i get my shader higher than that? (my shader is unlocked from the core speed, if it wasn't, i would have to be at 2009 with core speed of 810)

    Any one?

When i go higher with my shader i got these pictures:
Are these artifacts? The tools says no errors, but this yellow lines?...i don't get it

1900 that mite just be the limit of the shader clock for your card.

yup not all cards are built the same
you could turn fan speed to 100% and try again?
thuo those yellow lines look funky

Well thx for that ;-) but not that kinda post i was expecting...
    How can it be:
    Core 790 (standard 745)
    RAm 1225 (standard 1100)
Shader 1848 (thats the standard freq. of the 9800GTX+

    With these freq. its running without artefacts (running atittol + furmark + prime95 + 100%fan@ 76 °C)

How can that be? Is the shader not important?

well i feel for you man
i have two that hit 840/2000+/1260 so i would think you would do much better.
    as for

    Is the shader not important?
it is,but most of the time shader clocks are highly temp related thats why try to keep it cool and try again

My temp is @ looooooong and full load with furmark, far cry 2, etc. @ 78-80°C. Fan speed at 75%. Temps should be OK.

790/1848/1200 (there is room until 1250) without any dots in atitool and games.

Is there a temperature limit, which i shouldn't overcross?

for those temps i would not complane.
even with my house heat on in sli i never ever come close to those temps, with fan at 100%.(no case)
but i dont play furmark thuo...

yuo've obviously reached the OCing limit of ur particular card. No use goin on about it. Live with it, or get a better faster card.

Obviously you don't get my point:

are these clocks OK for a 9800GTX+?
from what I've heard the gtx+ schould be able to go higher than 800...so:
    - is this not true or
    - is my chip a really really bad one in anyway?

You don't have a bad overclock at all @810-1900-1200 with that card. I can't get my shaders over the stock 1836 without the same artifacting in ATI tool but I do run my core at 820 and memory at 1225 with no problems. You do realize that a lot of the high clocks you see on the internet are either done with watercooling, volt modding, or aren't stable at all just people pushing their unstable cards really high to brag?
There is no way to guage how well what % of any chip overclocks by looking at forums like this as 90% of the owners of these cards never post anything on any forum. Just be happy with what you have imo.

    That is my impression too..unfortunately

Well i put back my frequencies to 790-1848 (stock)-1200...damns table und temps are @ 74 °C (room temp of 25) under extreme heavy load (CPU with prime and GPU with furmark, atitool, gpu caps viewer, etc.)...
