    hmm i think its to early for people to be using i7's to review i think that reviews still need to be done on the most comon gaming setups and not the higest and newest kit that only a few have

    The new benchmarking rig has to provide a level playing field for all components tested on it, with x58 you can test SLI and Crossfire without other factors skewing the results. On top of that, the VGA Charts can only be updated when new GPUs are reviewed, therefore the test setup has to last a long time so as to cover all these upcoming releases without being a limiting factor. Core 2 is already a limiting factor when it comes to multi-gpu setups.

    Because of this, it makes most sense to build the highest-end rig possible, as early as possible.
