I have got a choice between these two cards for really cheap, I mainly game at 1280x1024. Which card will be the better choice? I'm leaning towards the 3850 but the specs seem superior on the 8800gts. I know its the G80 core but how does it compare? Thanks Here's the links to the cards 3850 http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2718 8800gts http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130410
i would save another 70 bucks and buy the 8800gts 640mb, a little bit more bang for the buck, but otherwise go with the 8800gts it will serve you well for most older games, the new stuff well you can always try.
I say the 8800gt. 3850 is okay, but not the greatest. For a budget gpu though for today, it's a great value gpu.
Get a G92 512mb card for like $100 on newegg. Both of those cards are a good bit slower than the G92 cards (9800GT/GTX and 8800GT/GTS 512)
I'm getting a deal from my sis's BF and its between those to. I'm gonna end up getting the 8800gts, I think it will perform better from what i gathered. Also the 3850 seems to have alot of negative feedback or alot of people arent so happy with their cards from reading some search results.
3850 is more a mid-range card than a high-end card. The G80 based 8800GTS is closer to the 3870 in regard to performance than it is the 3850...though in most games I believe it tends to perform a reasonable amount better.
the g80 core is more than capable of runing them rezolutions no prob only crysis kils it lol overrclock it to 6oomhz core 1500mhz shader 900mhz memory easy u wont b sorry:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
Well I got the EVGA 8800gts and i'm glad I did. This card Trumps my 7950GX2 in IQ and Power. Thanks for the replies. Also @Gumbanator, I will Oc soon enough rite I wanna see what it does stock. Crysis Warhead here I come lol..
For $10 more you could have got the superior G92 512mb 9800GT. It's not to late to return it to NewEgg and swap. BFG 9800GT $99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681414315 Also this is a NEW video card, not a refurb like the one you linked in the OP.
It was those exact cards linked, but they were used. I used the links as a reference to show the specs on them.
