I have just forked out for a new GTX260 216 core much to the dismay of my better half.

This replaced my old 8800GTS 320Mb and I have yet to see the difference.

    Why?

Because my bloody unbranded 600W PSU can't cope with the mofo.

Squeels like a pig in Graphics mode even when underclocked.

I heard that the GTX260 needs around 36Amps on the 12v rails, can anybody reccomend and good but cheap alternative PSU for me. The wench won't let me spend as much as I would like to on a high end modular one.

    What about ARCTIC POWER 700
    +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 -5V -12V +5VSB Combined Power
    30A 38A 22A 22A -0.6A 2A
    700W

Please help as I am at a loss as I can't enjoy my new toy.

just so you know yours has 44 amps 22 and 22. but it could still be weak. just look for one in your price range that will work. there are also drive bay psu that are made to work with just video cards.

now that i think about it it might not be the psu it might be a capicitor on the card mine does it as well and i thought it was the psu but when i opened the case up it was the card making the noise. it only does it when i am folding at home so i deal with it but i would double check were the noise is coming from.

It's definately the PSU as it used to do it ever so faintly with my majorly OC'd 8800GTS

hehe thats one fiesty lady u got thier mate...

ill have a butchers n see if i cant find u one. ask a guy called morbias who I believe is a brit. he knows more than me and will prolly point u in the direction of a cheaper psu.

sorry for no lines of text...was giving u some quick links. i kinda guessed they would be a bit pricey so soz about that.

its a grey area for me. I always add another 150w on to what the box says n play safe. for my 9800gtx i had a corsair 620w which i fried...then i rmad a pc world 650w and then got the 850w as i thought feck it no more psu shanigans. but aye costs build up.

I've decided to suffer the wrath of wor lass and opt for the 800W Xilence that has 72A on 4 12v rails, hopefully this will tie me over and leave a little room for Overclocking.
