i would sugest geting a xpertvision 9800gtx+ got my one for £120 new bargain. The stock cooler they put on is not the normal reference design and keeps the temps below 43c load on the lowest fan seting and can handel a hefty overclock also it :thumbup:will handel crysis well on high

I also thought of HD 4850 but correct me if i'm wrong.. the HD 4850 is very hot and power hungry is it??... if i do not like overclocking.. which is the best vga card to get based stock value??... thanks...

9800GTX+ is more power hungry than 4850 but olso little bit faster...

And yeah 4850 gets realy hot 80C+

The Gainward cards are in my opinion great and lots of room for overclocking!! Have had 6 cards already and never could kill one.

Don't blow your money on the 9800GTX+ if you can find a 8800 GTS 512 or 9800GT 512 or a 9800GTX for cheaper. The 55nm on the G92 is not increasing the clock speed that can be reached. Board member cowie has also confirmed this. The only benefit being slightly better energy efficiency and slightly better cooling efficiency. Just don't expect it to be any faster than the rest of the G92 128sp 512mb cards.

have had my 9800gtx+ for about 2 weeks now, everything runs smooth ,came from a 8800gts 640mb,an can still see notable difference in games, you will be happy with a 9800gtx+ that i will say. For a single card like this that can overclock big 820 core/1240 on memory/1984 on shaders (could probly clock higher but i see no need) an still keep cool. Card also can compete with some sli rigs based on some of the benchmarks ive seen an this is only a single card ,im definatly happy with my purchase

Doesn't clock any "bigger" than the standard 65nm 128sp G92 cards. On my 65nm 8800 GTS 512 w/ volt-mod I have been stable for over 6 months at 864/2106/2000 and I do not load over 59C.

ok well not everyone wants to volt mod,but some 9800gtx+ will hit 826MHz core/1242MHz memory/2065MHz shaders, will no volt mod

That is because the cards have higher stock voltage, so you could say that compared to the first G92's you are volt-modded by the manufacturer.

9800GTX+ is a lovely card. Bought it since I didnt want to invest into GeForce GTX series and wait about year and build all new rig from scratch when all the goodies get released.

Atm, I think the card will hold great till new system. Runs smooth, great performance.

In SLI I can run games at 860/2025/2400 idle 33C full load 43c 100% fan. I also bench at that speed but run them at 820/2000/2400 40c idle full load 53c 60% fan until I find the time to V mod them. I up graded from a pair of 9600gt SSC's and in COD4 I see little gain but in GRID the cards scream at 1900x1200 level 4 AA/AF etc.

V-Mod will barely give you any gain since you already have upped voltage in comparison to the first G92 releases. Board member cowie who has volt modded multiple 65nm G92's has also volt-modded two 55nm G92's (9800GTX+) and the gains are minimal in comparison when volt-mod is applied. In some cases the 65nm even clocks higher than the 55nm. It doesn't seem right though...

I thought with the temps being low the volts could be a lot higher, but I guess you don't know what the extra volts will do, more stability or extra heat until you try. Or I can step up to a pair of the 260gtx max cores, they seem really nice.

Past 1.45V there is no gain and for most people below 1.4V is optimal. I turned mine up as high as 1.5V, but the clock gain was negligible for higher temps and stress on hardware. Normally with a smaller manufacturing process you see less volts, not more.

you can get the evga gtx+ for like 160us after mir so thats a good deal.
then step up if you want later, which you could never do with a 4850
stock volts for gtx+ is 1.19(good for 840) 3d.i forgot on the 88gts i think my evga sc cards were 1.16?(good for 825).
i like the ram clocks on the gtx+'s thou one of my cards goes 1270 other 1260.
