Trust me, I've tried this to confirm it. DriverCleaner can ruin further ATI driver installs permanently. An OS reinstall is the only thing that fixes it. Never use these cleaner tools with ATI drivers.

    hey,

    Well its already 800 :D

but thats not an issue. my only problem is with STALKER and i fixed it with ATT REFRESH RATE OVERDRIVE :). i will install this hot fix again..but over my current offcial 8.10 drivers?

    Someone pls make it clear..

is this HOT fix STANDALONE? u must uninstall 8.10 and install this?.... or u must apply this to current 8.10?

It's a standalone, you can read that on the ATi site, it includes the driver + CCC

I have been using driver sweeper in safe mode to remove ATI drivers for years. That must be many dozens of driver installs and never ever have I had a problem where I had to re-install windows. I don't use driver cleaner though so I can't vouch for that one. I stopped using it when they stopped supporting the free version. I use the one from this site, as its free, is fully supported and works great.

I use to remove nvidia, ati and creative drivers for myself and others without any issues.

    Rolled back to 8.11.

IT never has for me when I use it with my X1900 when I was using. And even then on the same X1900 thats in my other computer. Never had it ruin the Os and it always worked for me.

Well, for me the immediate result was some of the issues described in this thread...for examples, CCC not starting; No ATI device found error messages; Not being able to install newer versions; and the final straw was an immediate 6000 point drop in 3DMark06. It went from 21k to 15k right after I used DriverCleaner.

Again, it seems to work for some folks, but not for others. Results appear to vary.

I was having trouble with all drivers above 8.7, getting a code 43 error in device manager and the CCC message that no ATI drivers were installed.... however, simply rebooting my computer again seemed to fix it. I have noticed a lot of stutter on this driver, especially in Source games over 8.7

I am going to try the regular 8.10 drivers and see how they work in terms of games, but to me the stuttering makes it feel like everything is running way too slow.

By the way, Vista 64, 2 4850's in Crossfire in case anyone was wondering
