Open the Nvidia Control Panel, under "3D Settings" click on "SLI Configuration". On the top window frame where it says: "File Edit View 3D Settings Help" click on "3D Settings" and "Show SLI Visual Indicators".

Now, if you start a game you can see if SLI is working. There will be an indicator at the left side of the screen going from top to bottom.

    Found the Secret!

There we go, there is the secret! You have got a different "Nvidia control panel". Want to see how mine is? Here:
As you can see, the tab in the line File - Edit - View - Help the 3D Settings tab is missing.
Question: Where do I get this, your particular Control Panel from?
I am using driver 177.98 both on my Vista32 and on my XP32 OSs.
Otherwise I will have to continue with nHancer and its settings.

GX2 should still show the SLI option unless you have a 2nd physical card installed trying to use it as a physx processor.

at least it always showed for me when i had my gx2 using driver 177.83 and before.

Hmm, system properties/ device manager does show 2 9800GX2's which is odd as there is only one GX2 containing two X 8800 gts.
Whichever way you look at it the system does recognise it as two cards.
Furthermore I can turn one card off in Nvidia panel & FPS drop by around 40% so it does run in SLI

The SLi indicators have been around for about as long as SLi has been supported in the drivers.

I have 178.13 installed but not got the SLI option on top toolbar, maybe because I have XP32 & not Vista version?

It's been like this quite a while already. Don't ask me since which driver version, though. ;)

This option should be there in XP, too. I have no idea why it's not visible for you, though. I guess that something got messed up in the registry, when you were installing or uninstalling a driver. Iirc, I read about this problem already before and the guy fixed it by uninstalling the driver, deleting a registry key and then reinstalling the drivers again. After that everything was fine...

p.s.: I'm afraid I don't know which registry key you have to look for. Sorry.
