    Hi Unwinder,

Are there any plans to enable adjustment of the video processor to help speed up video decoding?

There are no plans because the text quoted there is a technical nonsense.

    Why speed up decoding?

You can run a 1080p File with a 8500gt fine, Why "try" make it go faster?

That was supposed to have been said by a nvidia engineer.

And wouldn't the video processor be the purevideo decoder. Because if I use the program listed above, I get a faster decode time with little cpu usage and no increase in core temps.

    Edit my mistake..

    this is for decoding..

    inst this a bit pointless?

The CoreAVC codec can play 1080p files even on a 1Ghz cpu :3eyes:

This has nothing to do with playback.

    Please read before posting again.

Hmm, interesting. I did some researches tonight and it looks like there is indeed separate 4xx MHz clocked domain in the chip which can be used to feed VP independently of SPs. However, forget about controlling it: drivers doesn't provide overclocking support for it and implementing low-level way doesn't worth the efforts from my POV.

Thanks for your reply and confirmation that it exists.

    Maybe one day.

Even if you could control it, I dont think it would clock very high, 20mhz at most, as im sure its linked/locked to a certain bus, Plus as far as i know the chip doesnt have cooling on it.

But if someone manages to do it, good on em.

Hi Unwinder. Has driver support changed and/or has your interest level increased?
