Hi Unwinder, Are there any plans to enable adjustment of the video processor to help speed up video decoding? http://neuron2.net/dgavcdecnv/cuda/cuda.html
For transcoding video content using this. http://neuron2.net/dgavcdecnv/dgavcdecnv.html http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=141104
That was supposed to have been said by a nvidia engineer. And wouldn't the video processor be the purevideo decoder. Because if I use the program listed above, I get a faster decode time with little cpu usage and no increase in core temps.
Edit my mistake.. this is for decoding.. inst this a bit pointless? The CoreAVC codec can play 1080p files even on a 1Ghz cpu :3eyes:
This has nothing to do with playback. Please read before posting again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcode
Hmm, interesting. I did some researches tonight and it looks like there is indeed separate 4xx MHz clocked domain in the chip which can be used to feed VP independently of SPs. However, forget about controlling it: drivers doesn't provide overclocking support for it and implementing low-level way doesn't worth the efforts from my POV.
Even if you could control it, I dont think it would clock very high, 20mhz at most, as im sure its linked/locked to a certain bus, Plus as far as i know the chip doesnt have cooling on it. But if someone manages to do it, good on em.
