Buy a GTX 260,just as cheap as a 4870 and raped it overclocked and even beats the GTX280 at stock spmetimes. The 4870 is a great card and i was going to buy it til i saw how much of a gain you get from a GTX260 OC'd and it runs much cooler than either. Here is a link to the overclocked versions. And no i'm not bashing ATI they did an excellent job this time around and helped us all to get a fast affordable card thanks to them putting up a strong fight against Nvidia.Either way GTX260 or 4870,you really can't go wrong. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/evga_gtx260/

Yes there was a large batch of faulty cards. Temps would soar up to 105C within a minute of gaming.

If you pick one up you should end up with revision A2. I have one and it never gets higher than 80C load. Currently idle at 45C.

The card is very stable, unlike the 4870 X2 that i tested before this.

hoping that i swap for XFX 280 that i dont incour more problems just want an easy time , put pc on run battlefield or any game and it works first time ( obviously with all availbe driver updates added) NOT able to do that with my sapphire radeon 4870-x2 so ?

Well I was going to open a new topic about the same question, I would use this just to ask the same question. As you can see my rig is very old, I can't play practically any new game, except COD4 (thanks to COD4 creators :)), I have a mountain of original games to play with, ROFL I can't waiiiiiiit!! I was going to buy GTX280 and now u say there will be released a new one. OMG what I should do? :wanker::wanker:

I was really considering a 4870x2, but after hearing the problems with drivers, heat, noise, etc. I finally went with a GTX280 and $200 cheaper . . . . couldn't be happier. Quieter and cooler than my old 3870x2 and runs everygame I have so far without a problem.

There will probably be a better version coming out. I'm running a bfg 280 gtx and it runs great. not over heating problems like some people say it has
