X7007: I use 12X Edge AA in almost every game (aside from Crysis of course :) ) and the impact is mostly comparable to 8X Box AA. Edge Detect use shaders to help with AA and if you have a game that is not so much dependent on shaders or otherwise not shader limited then Edge Detect can be almost free.

Any idea when the WHQL ones will show up, mid september?
The 8.9 are the best so far, i am playing Quake 1, highres mod at 1280x1024, aax4, bloom effects, etc getting around 30-40fps. Keep in mind, none of the older ati drivers from 8.1 to 8.8 could not run older games at all, but 8.9 runs some of them now very good. :)

ATI is clearly fixing their opengl area, which is great news

In most games(new) with advanced AA in game menu, you wont be able to force anything.

True ATI are maturing their drivers, but no way as fast nVidia, but hey I supose that is what you get when you invest in the under dog :(

I would give them a try because they did get rid of the green dots I was seeing. I made sure that I ran it in DX10 mode and the dots appear to be gone.

what i meant was that i can use box 4xAA/8xAA, but when i use Edge detect 12x/24x it becomes disable in the game, even when the ingame setting AA is enable, this happens forcing AA or leaving it has application specify. this doesn't happen to box AA. this doesn't happen with others games, (COD4, devil may crid etc). i might have to reinstall GRID all over again to see if it solve the problem.

Use Cataylst 4.3, the best driver for older radeon cards. Using 8.9 is a bad idea with older cards.

My Visiontek 4850 runs great with these. Is it odd that my AA works fine though with these drivers? I just question because some folks were saying it's "greyed out."

Seems to be working fine here .... but I don't use CCC, just the display driver.

The officials will be out in a few days.... I'd wait now as these aren't as straightforward to install and uninstall as the official MS certified ones....
