My wifes computer is decent for slow games but the games that say p400 are running to slow lol. She has vista basic, 7600GS 2 gigs of ddr2 ram, and 2.0ghz amd sempron. The low quality games like magic ball 3, lol get very choppy even with it overclocked or not overclocked. I think the old motherboard is a nforce4 or something like that. I have all the latest drivers that I can think of on it. Any help would be nice. If i remember right the motherboard has like 8x pcie not the full 16x, but that shouldn't really affect it on cheap games i thought.

hmmm strange, you could try the latest beta drivers for her graphics card, which can be found at the download section on guru3d.com

How long have you had it for?

It could just be one of those times that it is bogged down with so much crap that a fresh install is needed.

    Fresh install.

Fresh install didn't help before so I really dont know. There isn't any bios update for it that I can find.

Do you hear any fans going sick (or at least faster than they used to go)?

    Gonna check.

I haven't opened her case in months, i hope its a fan lol. She never wants to get off it cause of myspace. What I think is weird is that sims 2 is more of a resource hog then the little 20mb games she plays and sims 2 seems to run fine on her system.

Sounds like a driver issue to me.

When reformatted this PC, scrolling pages was laggy and choppy as hell, but playing CS 1.6 was fine.

Once I had installed the latest VGA drivers, the lagging scrolling went, and my frames went up in CS.

Open the case, and see if the heatsink(s) are clogged with dust, and make sure the fans are actually spinning!

    To check.

I will check that, i also forgot on vista if you have energy options to conservative it slows down the cpu. When I get off work I will check. I installed sp1 and the latest beta drivers off here for the video card. If I have to ill wait till shes asleep and try to find out why her comp is so slow.

Wait 'til she's asleep? Why?! Tell that wench you need to check her PC, and myspace and The Sims can wait!

I am only kidding, by the way. I do not condone any form of violence against women.

    Unless they deserve it.

Either way, let us know how things turn out once you have had a check.

    Tried.

Well I tried everything I could defrag/drivers etc. It still skips on games, since she doesnt have speakers on her computer I'm gonna put mine on it later on and see if the sound is skipping and hope its just a sound driver issue. Also her system gets 4.3 on the windows test or whatever its called.

    use jkdefrag for defragmantation.

but for your problem, hmm, try forcing some changes in graphic with control panel?
    could find something that helps
