who cares, almost everything out there is patented by some company. heck all companies have to pay 10 grand a year just to have HDMI interface on their products.
Which I don't mind at all. Someone had to do the R&D on HDMI, it didn't just poof into existence, they should be paid, and 10 thousand a year, for something that goes on TV and audio receivers is a very small price to pay.
OK, HDMI might be OK.... but what about "page up" and "page down." Guess this is further proof.... like we needed any more.... that patents in the US are meaningless. I might as well go patenting spitting on the ground or walking. Hell, let's just make it something important like breathing. Well, every time you guys take a breath you owe me a penny.
keyboard makers could rename page up and page down to something else? what about the windows key? they dont have a patent for that key too? i remember when the patent holder for .jpg or whichever one it was suddenly started yelling and wanted money..no maybe it was .gif file types but pretty much every little thing out there has a patent owner behind it. i dont see it as a big deal, i dont really see MS making any money off it less their going after Apple or something. but i dont use those keys...i have them binded to my G5 mouse..does that count as a use of a patent?

i had a pc in 98 where Page Down/Page Up pressed at the same time for more than 3 seconds would BSOD windowz. fail up.
well they invented it ... it's WINDOWS for god's sake ... before that there was nothing They can get all the patent they want if it's legally ok !
