One side of mine wants to buy a brand new shining 4870 1GB video card, because it's well, brand new and shining :)
But the other side of mine says there is no reason to buy a new video card, because there is only one game that can stress my current SINGLE 3870 enough and you know its name.

So list reason why I should buy(or maybe should NOT buy)a new 4870 :)

    Thanks :)

Save yourself some money, wait for the price drop.
Or try to sell your current cards while you might still be able to get something for them, then upgrade.

I wish I had waited for the 1GB version of the card myself or bought the x2. Some games I barely noticed the upgrade from my 8800GT with high settings eating over 512MB and slowing things right down. I havn't seen any benchmarks yet on how the extra memory on that card effects gaming, so I would wait for those to come out.

I agree, wait for the next series :) Maybe nVidia will take back the number one spot :) Next generation will be interesting.

Maybe a bigger screen if you don't have one already :). The PC looks like more than enough for current gaming.

8800gt to 4870 i notice huge increase , more smooth.

    You don't even need 4870 1gb or 4870x2.

    :) unless u gaming on a 30" and up

eh, seems that once I turn AA on alot of games slow right down. Crysis in particular is just retarded with only 2x AA and I get almost no performance boost over the 8800GT. Without AA I went from around 32 FPS to over 45. Seems to me AA pushes me over 512 and it crawls, but I'm not 100% if the memory is the cause of that.

I know in Oblivion once I pass 512 with higher resolution mods it slows right down also.

I so tried not to listen to the voices...... Do it, do it, do it...come on , come on.....this all I heard for days echoing in my head haunting me at night.

With Sapphire 4870 X2 on its way to replace my 8800GT.....

The voices are now gone...... I will rest now in peace....
