I see, okay. So what's the difference between GeForce PhysX and Ageia PhysX?

If you have to ask, then the answer is none. It will work the same for you on any game. Except your frames per second will drop when using GeForce PhysX, since it is your video card that is working on physics as well.

Ehh, I can't get switchball to let me enable physX, it doesn't detect my nvidia physx...

Windows server 2008 x64 enterprise with the x64 drivers from the powerpack.

OK, fair enough, but what are those DX9 errors I'm getting in Vista x64? I'm not able to run the demos included in the package due to those errors, so I'd imagine that if I tried some of the other PhysX stuff outside of the packaged stuff I'd run into issues.

I've reinstalled cleanly a few times now hoping to get it corrected, but nothing.

No Geforce PhysX detected here either.
Uninstalled Nvidia driver, and installed the new driver.
No Ageia driver was installed, in control panel old version.
    uninstalled Ageia driver
Unpacked the driverpack and installed PhysX driver seperately after the nvidia driverinstall.

    What could be wrong`?

Uninstalled the PhysX again, used Driversweeper, reboot, install PhysX. Gives message: PhysX installed successfully. Reboot, and still in control panel it says No acceleration, with Geforce greyed out.

Did you try to use the option "run as administrator" from the context menu?

I meant installing it that way. Not running/starting it like that. ;)

Yes, Cybermancer, it makes no difference. (thx for helping out though)

For those running Vista and having DirectX issues...

Be sure to download the latest (august) DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft. My Vista installs with DX10 but not a complete DX9 install. I had to install the latest DX9 on Vista to play specific games properly.

Perhaps this is affecting the PhysX software.

You guys are able to play Cellfactor: Combat Training or Revolution with the nVidia PhysX driver?

When i try start the game i get this error: "PhysX hardware not detected! Cellfactor requires Ageia PhysX Hardware, with runtime and drivers installed."

This nVidia PhysX driver not supposed to "emulate" a physx card?

P.S.: Sorry for the bad english.

your 8800gt IS the phsyx card. It is not an emulator for ageia hardware, perhaps the game hasn't been updated to tell the difference between looking for the ageia hardware and a geforce phsyx one

You know after reading all the reports of what people are experiencing, I suspect that the PhysX driver bundled with the Vista driver may actually be for XP rather than Vista.

Try extracting out the graphics driver and install that on its own. Then go download a confirmed Vista specific version of the PhysX driver and see if it works correctly. If it does work, then someone screwed up with the software bundle.

Um, I'm having the same "Wrong DirectX version detected" errors, and I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2. I know I have DirectX 9.0c installed, but it keeps telling me that I have DirectX 9 instead, so I can't run the demos. I -did- install the XP version of the drivers.

    What gives?

Its in portuguese. In english the message is something like "The NVIDIA PhysX processor is not installed".

    Is that right?
