    Lol, don't bother. I get about 25-30fps average with 2XAA in DX10 @ 1680X1050 on just HIGH.

    Seconded :( 26-ish average on 0XAA / DX9 / 1680x1050 / VERY HIGH (aka playable but nothing stellar)

Was really hoping to squeeze in 2XAA, but doesn't look like it's much of an option... not with smooth framerates.

Hoping 8.8 finals boost Crysis performance just a little bit. Then all might be well.

i dont understand this graphic card is capable more than twice of what a 8800gt can do how come its struggling at those resolutions?
i blame crysis engine for beying such a crap...

Uses old more power hungry methods instead of new features of DX10 to get the same result, and thats why it scales so ****y in SLi/CF or even a 8800GTX compared to a GTX280.

Are you using very high patch in dx9?, if so, just change the water to medium, it's not that different, and boosts fps a huge amount to me.
Seems like we need HD 5870 to crunch crysis, i'm waiting for 5850 next year, want 4870 performance with less heat/noise

no the card is fine i tested it myself but not at that res since my pc cant handle it its the game engine which is poorly coded, they claim in their new crysis warhead the engine will be alot more "optimized" i call it fixing it...

Yeah the patch/tweak. I couldn't bring myself to do something like that :) I'll lower resolution if I have to. At least the MS-Paint-Spraybrush foliage will be easier on the eyes.

4870 noisy? Hardly. Only at boot-up. It's pretty inaudible on idle (where it counts) in my silent rig. Load is easily drowned out by the slightest amount of volume while gaming. The noise is over on the green side of the fence.

Hot? Hell yeah :p Small price to pay for silence, and I plan to do nothing about it... yet. Not touching fan speeds, I like my silence.

The 4870 isn't noisy, but it's not all that quiet either...It's not enough to bother me though.

I suppose it helps that I toggle on my "Idle Mode" whenever idling ^^ 160/225 clocks take it down to 0% fan (which somehow translates to 1000rpm). But honestly, it's nowhere near loud enough for people to complain, nowhere near GT200 levels. Probably drowned out completely by 99% of rigs out there.

Edit: To give you an idea what silence I'm judging based on.. 3x120mm Noctuas @ 550RPM (in/out/cpu) 1xWD640 (others spun down) and 1x 140mm PSU running at god knows what crazy low speed, quieter than the 120s.

4870X2 totally demolish GTX280 in Crysis. If u checked tomshardware review (which maybe isn't totally reliable but anway) 4870X2 was running Crysis @ 1920x1200, max details (very high i assume) with 34FPS. With 4xAA applied it only lost 4 FPS (30FPS average). Let alone how GTX280 performed with AA... That was with 8.8 driver.

Crysis is crap coded. WHy bother with this game?
    Why play DX10 ?

DX9+ Very High Mod ( natural mod is best i think). You should be geeting decent framerate.
