i want to purchase a new video card and i don't know what to choose: a Geforce 9600 or an Radeon 3870. both of it have the same price
Geforce 9600 is OC (690/1880) but Radeon 3870 support directx 10.1 (and has DDR4-775/2250 )
    any suggestion?

Have a look here http://www.guru3d.com/category/vga_charts/ it may help your decision. If it's out of those 2 only my choice would be the 9600GT. (Assume you know these are PCI-E cards not AGP. Yep thought you did, just checking :))

PS. Welcome to the Guru3D forums :)

9600GT wins. DX 10.1 is just marketing. My 9600GT in stock form w/ 650mhz can O/C to 700 core and I've see nit go past. Finished Crysis on High at 1440*900, COD4 at 1680*1050 max, and Assassin's Creed at 1680*1050 max. Worse comes to worse just SLI it

i'm not a noob all the way :p - i know that these are PCI-e cards.
i read some articles about these 2 cards, but i can't decide which one to choose (3dmark06 score is better for radeon 3870):bang:
    PS: thx for the link.

Performance difference between the cards is minimal, just get the cheapest of the two you can find.

Yw buddy good card eh? :D

Have fun and there is a few bios flashes you can do but very risky and it's up to you to get even more peformance out of your card but that another matter...

Anyway have fun with new card mate... :)

d1fferent - What are you an ATi salesman, LOL.

Yep 4850 is a good choice, next thing you need to do is overclock that Athlon near to breaking point to get some decent results from it :)
