I'm thinking of buying another 8800gtx card for an Sli set up I have a spare Antec 550w & another (Generic) 600w psu, I've read where peeps have connected 2 psu's to there set ups, modding there case etc obviously I dont see it has a permanent solution but I figure might be worth a try, i'm not going to be modding my case or anything just plug it in externally & connect solely to one of the other 8800gtx the cables will fit through rear slots no messing about so if I end up buying one, do you think it would it work ok, I would just have turn the spare psu on at same time as i boot my pc !!:micro:

To be honest its a lot of effort for very little gain. I would suggest getting yourself a decent power supply from a good vendor that can supply 4 +12v 18Amp (min) rails. I use thermaltakes toughpower seires that have always served me well.

    Kindest regards

are you sure you would even need more then your 600watt already gives, I know your cards pull more then mine, but im only using around 475watts after every thing is OC'd.

Nope not sure it maybe ok to run with just 600w OCZ model in my pc now but need some molex to 6pin connectors to use it as it only has 2x 6pin which is needed for powering one 8800GTX, dont want to buy any more psu's as already have 3

The power supply doesn't turn on by the power switch. There is a green wire in each main harness that will have to be spliced together so the outside supply will come on.

Yea realise that though thanks m8 actually was going to short it back through green/grey cable with jumper type idea on other side on 20/24 pin plug as don't fancy cutting through the wires on my best psu :)

Toughpower are very good power supplies, not massively expensive and are made very well, top notch ;)

Dude you should just consider getting a new card like 4870 or something else coz they'll work with your psu.
BTW 4870 is faster than 8800gtx.

You should just sell a couple of your PSU's and upgrade to a 800+ watt. It'd be much easier.

    BTW the sky is blue.
