It's faster than an 8600GTS (although it has no dx10 capabilities) and it's much slower than any 8800 series card.

Good processor and 7900GTX is good for about 6000-6500 in 3dMark06.

Yes, but as far as I can remember, the difference between 7900GTX and 7950GT is neglible, it's just a small revision, for power saving or something minor...

i must add the score of the processor is insane ;) my stock x1900xtx is a bit faster then 7900gtx or 7950gt i get around 2900 from sm2 and sm3... as for the 8800 its surely faster 8600 loses here and there and wins some if im not wrong

Yeah the CPU score is big, tho a lot bigger under the XP, but the final score is not that much cause of the CPU ya know.
    Check this out,

That's an old screen with the old RAM and box cooling.
As you can see the CPU is at 3.6GHz and card clocks are lower.
So it's not the CPU that brings up that final score.
I think that an decent C2D would be alright with the clocked 7900GTX/7950GT to pass 7k.

And mate your 1950XTX is significant faster I'd say, still a good card tho deserves an upgrade with all the new cards performing so good and at decent price :)

But still I think that 8600GTS is a better choice right now for the newer games then 7900 series.

I'd prefer the 7900-series any day... Why get DX10 when the difference can't be seen with the eye >_>

Why would anyone prefer the old 7900GT card over a modern 8800card wich is twise as fast and costs as much and even less then a 7900GTX:3eyes:
who cares about DX10,it faster in DX9...

The op asked "yehs the question how fast is it compaired like 8600GTS or old 8800GTS "
    and i said that 8800is faster. i know that 8series is DX10 and 7900 is DX9..

7900GTX is faster in many games but slower in some, the more modern games often take the leed with 8600, i tried saveral games with my old 8600 XXX and my 7900GT 512mb.. they were often pretty even...

However, the 7 series cards are clearly faster in SLI.

the 7 series is really showing it's age when the 8600GTS beats the 7900GTX! The X1900's are holding up better. how fast the 7900GTX is greatly varies by game though. It's not great in shader heavy games though.
