GTX 280/260 overclocks thread

ok people, if you have a 200 series Nvidia GPU post up your max stable overclocks. I use Nvidia's new overclocking program since it now supports shader overclock and is not bothered with Vista UAC.

So far all I can manage is
Core 630
Shaders 1400
Memory 2300

Pretty crappy if you ask me. I'm wondering if the factory OC cards are worth it this time around:3eyes:

No way in hell can I hit FTW speeds of 670/2430/1450:bang:

May dump this card in favor of a factory OC, not sure.

FYI. I use Nvidias new Medusa demo. It beats on the card and can be looped, nice benchmark program for stability imo.

 

I haven't touched my clocks yet. I'm waiting for drivers to mature and Rivatuner to update. Right now I think it'll be pretty much next to impossible to hit high clocks with such immature drivers/software.

eVGA users post your thoughts about the Precision OC software they included! (I haven't tried it yet)

 

Rather small overclock considering you've got a water block on there. What sort of volts does it run at with those sort of clocks. You got temp there too?

I got between 11-25fps with a single GT @ 1680x1050 with filters on (I don't remember what setting). So it seems odd that two 8800GTs would get around the same or only a bit higher average. Did you have really high filters on or something?

 

Gaming performance, in regards to the VGA, favors bandwidth over speed. So considering that the 280GTX has 240 shaders and 1.4b transistors on a 65nm those clocks are just fine. This reminds me of the 8800GTX which began at 500, I believe and with a refinment in the Ultra was shot up to 675ish. The 280 core will be refined later on and have higher clocks. Nevertheless, thats a beast of a card.

 

I just need something that's gonna oc it. Rivatuner doesn't hold the overclock when I close, and reopen. Anyone having the same issue, or know of a utility that is working? Running Vista 64 sp1, and Riva 209.

 

Don't waste your time with rivatuner imo. Use Nvidias new ntune or Precision for overclocking.

I'm still on the stock cooler as the dangerden block is out of stock.

Setting fan speed to 100% (another great option in Nvidias new overclocking utility) i have managed much better. This tells me these cards will over clock much better with water cooling.

Hmm mine works great in Vista 64. Got the G280 at 700/1403/2400. Left the fan alone. I never tried higher just started here and looks good lol

 

Thought ntune didn't work worth a damn.

 

Has anyone tried the eVGA precision tool yet?

 

What's the new nvidia overclock utility? The ntune I downloaded doesn't have shader clocks. For my new 280 GTX

 

Also, SLAM take note. Better than precision imo, when using Vista.

i clocked my GTX260 at 625 1350 2250 and it is stable but i cant see any changes in benchmarks (3dmark06 15800, 3dmark05 18790) i tried to clock it at 650 1400 2400 and it was stable too but i removed the overclocks cause i did not get better scores than without overclocking. Is there a kind of Throttle-back at this card? does it reduce the performance when it is overclocked? Better than overclocking is to unlock the shaders... i think there will be a mod (instruction) vers soon for this. I did not changed the fanspeeds while overclocking.

 

Got around to benching the EVGA Superclocked and still have not found the max overclock yet:3eyes:

I only used 3D mark Vantage standard performance benchmark. Ran it 5 times back to back and so far the card holds up fine.

GPU-Z is showing 166.4 Bandwidth. My 8800GTX was at 100.3

 

I bought a regular XFX card. So far I am fine @ 690|2300 with a 1550 shader clock. I haven't tried to push the memory much yet.

I'm on Vista HP x64 SP1. I was overclocking with nTune when I wasn't bothing with shader clock, and switched to Riva Tuner later to do that unlinked from the core clock.

I haven't found my max yet either.

 

good overclocking GTX260

I flashed my GTX260 to 680 / 1400 / 2400 one hour ago and made many tests and it seems to be stable. The temps are not much higher than without oc. I will let it on this clocks for now and will do some benchings with it. Crysis is very smooth on 1650 x 1050 with 8aa + 8af now with vsync enabled and on very high... had a few lags without ocing it with these settings, but now its very smooth and looks great.. nice card and nice oc at least. i will try to go to 700 / 1400 / 2600 later but i will wait for oc testings before i try it. (i heared that many gtx280 can do this clocks and i think the gtx260 will be similar to it)

 

The watercooled 280s are hitting 750-800 core, Mmmm. Nvidia overclocking tool max is 724 core as I think it connects it to the shaders. EVGA Precision is letting me go higher though.

I will be flashing my card as well once i get my final clocks ironed out.

702/1458/2400 is what i've been using today, i remember so many saying this card wouldn't overclock well. this is a great overclocker.

I can go high on core and memory but don't want to push it, shader does seem limited to 1458 though as I had to unlink to push the core higher.
