i think it will cost probably around 500-600€ the 260gtx version for around 350-450€... just a wild guess but i think i'm not that far off.

    ............

What ARE you smoking? They are gonna be complete ripoff, if the gtx280 is anywhere near £320 on launch I will eat my face.

Why do people keep asking how much an Nvidia high end card costs :p since every single high end Nvidia card has cost almost the exact same price on release I've owned every single high end card Nvidia has released & they all have cost around £380 - £450 so the gtx280 wont be much different........

The new gtx280s have spectacularly poor yields though if I'm not mistaken.

Despite the fact that it's not even out yet, one can speculate that when comparing the size of the G200 die to the size of a standard silicon wafer, you will make a relatively low number of chips off of each wafer. Subtract the defective and flawed chips from that already low number and you now have spectacularly poor yields.

I dont care if its ati amd or nvidia, all i need is a card that can do dx10 at 1920 x 1200 with high settings and not lose half framerates when AA is enabled.

No, I'm going to pay $(whatever it costs within reason) for that game and every other game I play until I next upgrade. Don't forget other games which are released AFTER the card which to run maxed at my native 1920x1200 will require a better card than my current 8800 GTX. Man you anti-high end upgrade fanatics are lame.

Don't get me wrong but this is getting insane! look at the power connectors.. people talk about energy saving, Nvidia is doing the opposite..

Geez folks bottom line if you want the best you pay a price premium. If you can't afford it then oh well ! Hell if you put this same scenario to vehicles everyone would be driveing a ferrari etc for the price of a yugo! My suggestion to you complainers is get a better paying job and stfu about price. Myself I will be running 3 280gtx's soon as they launch :)

Take the dollar price, convert it to sterling and then add 20%.

Unless your planning to play graphics intensive PC games 24/7, the gtx280 will actually save you more energy than a 8800gt. It's idle and video decoding power states are far lower than current Nvidia gen cards.

hey you dont have to buy that mustang, could always buy that prius instead.

its all about choices, but your only gonna save a few $ per year on your electricity bill with the ati anyway.

    i like you :D

I read that the 4870x2 will be faster that the GTX 280. So I'm not gonna rush out and buy one of these until the 4870x2 arrives. Then I think we'll see some real competition in the high end sector from ATI

We are not taking about cars! The leap in performance between a Yugo and Ferrari far outstrips the difference between the next and last generation of GPU's imo! We are no doubt all very glad for you that you will rush out and spend over a thousand pounds on what will be outdated technology within 6 months! I myself own 4 houses instead! Oh and don't start on at peoples jobs, we earn what we earn doing the jobs we do. We will discuss prices if we wan't to and until your a Mod err....you can stfu too!
