You are forgetting how oh-so overclockable these superior Intel processors are. AMD's Phenom (even their best X4 9850) couldn't keep up with them in terms of both overclockability, performance, and performance-per-watt.

It would still be the wiser choice to upgrade to the Intel platform. After all, we are Guru3D, and we care for the best performance.

OMG .... the guy is only asking if the cooler is compatible with his cpu ... NOTHING ELSE .. if you want to talk about that intel is better than amd .. start a new thread and talk there!!

+1 for Neros post, there is no doubt that current Intel cpus overclock better than the phenoms right now, however even though the phenoms depending on the model can only go up about 500-600 mhz max, they keep up pretty good with Intel cpus. And if you're building a rig already and have the money for a Q9450, by all means go for the intel platform. But if you're already on AMD and have close performance to Intels lineup, there is no point in spending that much money by probably 10%-20% difference in performance. Just saying, the question was about a cooler, and that's it.

You people honestly have to come in here and just bash amd users for using amd... When will you all just learn that its just a dumb thing. If you're going to come into the amd forum, at least post useful information.

Now really, what's more economical? Buying an AM2+ processor to replace an AM2 processor in an AM2 board, or buying an intel mobo and Q9450($300 at microcenter currently) and probably a new cooler. Its $150 to $200 less, and in most games the difference in performance will be like 100 to 120 fps, which is pointless. Until games are truly cpu bound, there's no point to bashing.

The most effective and logical answer is yes or no.

This part of the forum is for amd users, to discuss about amd produtcs and opinions and share info. When the amd release there first amd 64, didn´t saw ppl going to intel forum and saying " ohhh intel sucks amd rules". as a matter of fact the only brand of cpu´s who was more lets say Ridicualized was intel, when amd came otu whit their FX and amd 64 cpu´s.

but iam a newbie the hell am i saying :p
