    Hi,

I've been wondering around if i could retrieve any HDTV signal through TV Tuner..

i reside in Melbourne, and we have some shows presented in HD. Is any1 knows a good-decent TV Tuner which can play HD shows (HDTV)....

or better yet, any1 could at least explain how it works and what kind of equipment do i need beside TV Tuner (e.g HD Set-top box or TV antennas...)

i am know nothing about this....

    thx for the help though......

all you need is something like this and an aerial that supports the HD signal

then on your PC you'll have a program/window (the software will be on the CD provided) that acts like a "tv" and you can configure it however you please

all monitors are capable of handling HD... an 'HD Ready' monitor supports at least 720p natively but any monitor will display a picture (if you're using a tuner card like above)

I recently installed a HVR-1250 from Hauppauge. Its working nicely. Pulling in the HD station over my cable, using QAM. I have not tryed the OTA feature. If you have enough CPU horsepower this card is fine, Cause its a software based card, it uses some CPU cycles. Recording mostly. I haven't had any problems with it.

I've got a little USB one at home, just remember that Indoor Antennas virtually suck, so long as you can get the PCI or PCIe versions and plug it into the proper antenna on the roof, you should be great.

Also, try using GB-PVR, it's a much better program than some of the other crap out there.
