I just built a new system with the following compontents CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 Mobo: XFX nForce 780i SLI Motherboard RAM: 4 GB Corsair Dominator RAM (DDR2) (2X2GB sticks) Video Card: EVGA nVidia 9800 GTX Power Supply: PC Power and Cooling 750W power supply I know the issue is the memory. When I put in one of the 2GB sticks, it works fine. When I put in to, Windows just goes to BSOD and I crash. Mobo link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813141005 Memory Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820145197 My RAM is faster than what the mobo supports, but I should be able to fix that my adjusting the FSB. I read this comment on Newegg reviews of the product. So its definitely a memory issue. I've updated my bios, installed all my drivers, and its still not working. It looks like I need to set my RAM's FSB lower-I tried setting it to 1066 mhz linked but that was a no go. Any ideas? Please help me! EDIT: IGNORE my profile specs! The new specs in the thread are the specs that I'm having issues with.
Using Vista? I remember hearing about an issue in Vista, where you had to boot up with only 1GB or 2GB of RAM, and then install a hotfix. Then you turn off, install the rest, and turn on. All fixed. Might be that.
I don't I am afraid I did a quick google, and came up with a hotfix that claims to lower RAM usage. I have no idea if it is the right one, but from the sounds of it, it is implemented in SP1 anyway. Are you running SP 1? EDIT: Ohhh, I'm too good to you FIX'D!
I updated and installed the hotfix. Still crashes. This is my intended plan of action. Reformat and install Windows. Apply hotfix. If that does not work, flash bios. If that still doesn't work, install drivers and update Vista. And if THAT doesn't work, **** it, I'm using XP. I don't have time for this garbage.
Aww man, sorry to hear that There is a post further down on that page. Try doing what that says (I think it was more or less what you are doing anyway).
