I used 174.74 and 174.82. I get a black screen with both of them as soon as i launch the game, any ideas? :(

    EDIT: It works with 169.44.

If anyone knows of a better driver to run AC, please let me know, thanks.

i use both(17474 and 17482) works just fine. but in-game graphics setting i can't set multisampling level more than 1. after awhile playing it will hang and bsod..

I get problems. I'm not sure if any other driver works. But I have to run AC in DX9 because with DX10 I only get about 30 minutes of gameplay and my PC locks up solid. And also, the shadows on the objects like the flags are all messed up in DX10. I have an 8800GTX. But on DX9 they look fine. So I guess I'll jsut have to use that.

I had a crashing problem after 10-20 mins with assassins on vista x64 dx10 174.74

I solved mine by setting my 8800 gtx's fan speeds to 100%

What is strange is no other game crashes like this, other games that work fine are crysis, bioshock, cod4, orange box etc...

Wow! sounds like the 174.XX is much more optimized for G92 based card.

3\4 of you guys have some problem with the 174.XX series and your all equipped with G80's and pretty much every G92 owners here are running the game free of issue.

From my part 174.74b and 174.85b are running without any problem in DX10 for hours in my overclocked SLI system.

Cuz i know that back when i had my G80 Ultra it was running hot like hell while playing stressful DX10 games like Crysis or Company of heroes and i don't know why.

I get that error when my video card overheats, every once in a while rivatuner lowers the fan speed.. Usually ends up in a crash.

Screw this I'm really pissed off now. I bought this damn game and haven't even got to main menu so far with SLI enabled. Tried every freaking driver between 174.31 - 174.85 (including the WHQL official ones) to no avail. Even DX9 .EXE doesn't work it just crashes with "stopped working message"

However SLI disabled it starts and works. I need SLI to be able to run at 2560x1600 with acceptable FPS. :(

How do I set my video card fans to run at 100%?

Ugh, scratch that. Both DX9 and DX10 modes lock my PC up solid. DX9 just takes longer. So it could be my 8800GTX overheating, but i don't have it overclocked. Still though. might be it

issues with black screen on 8800gtx is due to clocks being simply too high and overheating memory chips or gpu core, also can be power related issue if pci-e slot and external connectors not receiving enough clean power.

i fixed this on mine with 174.x drivers by doing a few things, mostly reducing cpu clock, loosening overclocked ram timings in bios, then using a max of 648 / 1512 / 2052 clocks on gpu, might get the odd crash after hours of play, but its all a matter of playing with gpu clocks mostly till you find a comfortable place.

this game doesnt seem to hit you with driver has not responded errors, just black screen of doom, which means your gpu has stopped responding and cant reinitialize.

the reason this game does it so profoundly and regularly with gpu's on the edge is clearly obvious, it stresses the gpu and cpu ridiculously hard, harder than even crysis, ubisoft did a great job with optimizations for multi threading and graphics.
